With profound sadness, Spartanburg District Five announces the passing of one of our beloved staff members, Mrs. Nicky Andrews, our Coordinator of Training and Teacher Quality. Andrews passed Thursday, May 22, following a brief battle with cancer.
Although Andrews had only been part of the District Five family since July 2024 , her presence made a tremendous impact in the short time she was here. Her warmth, professionalism, and passion were unmistakable from the very beginning.
Nicky came to District Five from Greenville County, and brought with her a wealth of experience in education—from her time as a celebrated classroom teacher, to her award-winning leadership as a Principal in Greenville County Schools.
In District Five, as the Coordinator of Training and Teacher Quality, she quickly became a champion for teachers. She believed strong teachers are the backbone of any successful school, and that philosophy guided her work here—supporting educators, uplifting principals, and helping schools grow stronger each day.
A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at North Hills Church at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to North Hills Church, and organizations supporting educational initiatives, honoring her lifelong mission for fostering growth and opportunity for students and educators. Her legacy is one of love, dedication, and unwavering belief in the power of learning.
Please join us in keeping the family of Nicky Andrews in your thoughts and prayers. She will be deeply missed.
