Spartanburg District Five School's Limited School Choice is a program that attempts to provide parents/legal guardians that are legal residents of Spartanburg District Five with the means to enroll their children in a specific school based on an identified need. Choice requests will be granted based on mitigating circumstances and the enrollment capacity of the requested school.
As an extra convenience to parents and families, the Limited School Choice and Out of District programs are available online. 2023-24 Limited School Choice and Out of District request forms will be accessible on this site (www.spart5.net) beginning Wednesday, February 1, and ending on March 31. Parents and guardians are encouraged to review all information carefully regarding procedures for both Limited School Choice and Out of District requests.
Due to current capacity, Lyman Elementary School, Reidville Elementary School, Berry Shoals Intermediate School and Florence Chapel Middle School are closed for new requests for the 2023-24 school year. (Students who are currently enrolled may continue).
Students who are currently on Limited School Choice and are remaining in the same school for 2023-24 DO NOT have to submit a LSC application. Only students moving from one level to the next must re-apply! (elementary to intermediate, intermediate to middle)
Students currently attending from Out of District (OD) remaining in the same school for the 2023-24 year DO NOT have to submit a new Out of District application. Only students moving from one level to the next must re-apply! (elementary to intermediate, intermediate to middle, middle to BFA, and BFA to BHS).
All Out of District students must continue to obtain a 2023-24 release from the school district serving their residence and send it to Crystal Jackson at the District Office to be kept on file
In order to better plan for instructional personnel and facility use, requests for Limited School Choice and Out of District placement MUST be received BEFORE MARCH 31, 2023. Applicants must adhere to this deadline. After March 31, Choice and Out of District requests may be denied based on school or grade-level capacity. Parents/guardians will receive a written response letter in the mail no later than April 14, 2023
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child's school or the District Five Administration Office.
