Spartanburg District Five Schools is proud to announce that Madison Montjoy, a 7th grade math teacher at Abner Creek Middle School, has been named the 2024–25 Induction Teacher of the Year! Montjoy was honored earlier this week during the district’s annual Induction Teacher celebration—an event recognizing the exceptional contributions of our first-year educators.
"This is a true honor," said Montjoy of the recognition. "There are so many great induction teachers who all deserve recognition and praise, because is not easy to do what we do, especially for the first year."
Montjoy, a passionate and dedicated educator, was selected from a group of outstanding first-year teachers who have demonstrated excellence in instructional practice, student engagement, and a strong commitment to professional growth. Since joining the Abner Creek Middle School team, she has made a powerful impact in her classroom and school community, earning praise from administrators, colleagues, and students.
"When I interviewed Ms. Montjoy and offered her a teaching position at Abner Creek Middle, I thought she would be a very good teacher. She has performed in a way that has far exceeded my expectations," says Principal Phillip Dean. "Because she has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, I believe she has a very bright future in education."
Known for her innovative approach to teaching math and her ability to build strong relationships with students, Montjoy has quickly become a trusted mentor and role model on her team. Her colleagues describe her as collaborative, reflective, and driven—qualities that are essential to lasting success in education.
The Induction Teacher of the Year recognition highlights the district’s ongoing commitment to supporting and celebrating new teachers through extensive induction and mentoring programs. Montjoy’s recognition reflects not only her individual accomplishments but also the shared investment of mentors, school leaders, and fellow educators who have walked alongside her during her first year.
As District Five celebrates her achievements, we look forward to all that lies ahead in her promising teaching career.
Congratulations, Ms. Montjoy, on this well-deserved honor!
