Let's take a brief break from our winter storm news to continue celebrating our amazing Board of Trustees members during this "School Board Appreciation Month"! 🎉Board member, Mark Cleveland, recently visited Abner Creek Academy, and was treated to a tour and time with students, teachers, and staff 🍎📚 He was even interviewed by student staff members of the school's new newspaper, the Gator Gazette! 🐊📰 Thank you, Mr. Cleveland, for all you do for our district! #WeAreD5

❄️ Weather Update ❄️
After much evaluation today, all District Five schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, due to hazardous driving conditions 🧊🚧 Wednesday will be an eLearning day for all District Five students. 💻 All extracurricular activities for Wednesday are also cancelled. Our district's inclement weather team surveyed many roads today, and while some main roads have improved, many secondary roads remain covered in ice. We simply cannot risk the safety of our bus riders, families, staff, or student drivers 🚌🚗

We are hopeful conditions will improve over the next 24 hours, but updates will be shared as needed. Stay safe and warm! ❄️

Due to the ongoing effects of the ice storm, all District Five schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. 📚 Tuesday will be an eLearning day for students 💻 All extracurricular activities are canceled.

Road conditions remain hazardous across our district, and extremely cold temperatures are expected to continue. 🧊 If your family is without power or internet access, please focus on staying safe—students will have five school days after we return to complete eLearning assignments.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as safety remains our top priority. Please stay safe and warm! ❤️

Due to inclement weather, our Board of Trustees meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, January 26 has been cancelled ❄️ Our Board of Trustees will now meet on Monday, February 2, at its normal location of Duncan Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. 📆

Due to an Ice Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service, all District Five schools and offices will be closed Monday, January 26.📚 Monday will be an eLearning day for students. 💻

With heavy sleet, freezing rain, and potential snow in the forecast, our roads will simply be unsafe for buses, families, or our student drivers to travel. 🚌🚗

We’re making this decision early to give families and our staff time to prepare and to prioritize safety. As we realize the possibility of widespread power outages, please remember: students have five days after returning to school to complete eLearning assignments. Safety is our most important concern!

As below-freezing temperatures are expected into early next week, we will continue to monitor conditions and communicate with everyone as soon as possible. ❄️ Please stay safe!

❄️ Weather update: For the safety of our guests and staff, District Five's Teacher Recruitment Fair this Saturday, January 24, has been canceled.

Help us congratulate our Byrnes Rebel wrestling team for their powerful performance at the county tournament this weekend! 💪🏻 The boys walked away as Spartanburg County Champions 🏆and both boys and girls had several individual champs 👏🏻 Congratulations to: Brett Eagan (138 lb), Conner Beaudin (144 lb), Black Walter (175 lb), Cienna Heiselman (115 lb), Tori Segarra (140 lb) and Leah Rice (145 lb). 🎁Special delivery!🎁 Chorus students from Reidville Elementary School took a special trip today, delivering some holiday cheer across our area! 🎄❤️ They started at Gibbs Cancer Center, singing to patients and hospital staff 🎶, then caroled their way to Byrnes High School and the District Office 🎼🎤 What a wonderful holiday surprise! 🥰 #WeAreD5

Oh what fun! 🎄🎁🎅🏻 It was a magical day at Abner Creek Middle School, where students & staff hosted their annual "Storybook Christmas" day for K5 students from Reidville Elementary School 📚 The little ones listened to stories, had treats, and heard the sounds of the season from the Abner Creek band 🎶 #WeAreD5
