All District Five schools will operate on a two hour delay on Friday, January 30. Our inclement weather team spent much of the day evaluating roads in our district, and most main roads are now clear. 👍🏻 Some areas of specific secondary roads still have ice, so we have decided not to send buses down roads we have deemed impassable. ⚠️

If your student is impacted, you will be contacted directly by the Transportation Department.🚌 A two hour delay allows more time for everyone to get to school, and more visibility in the morning.

⏰ Buses will run 2 hours late r than normally scheduled
🏫 Elementary starts at 9:30 a.m. | Middle/high school start at 10:15 a.m.
🚫 There will be no 4K/PCD or morning classes @ RD Anderson Applied Tech. Center

All District Five schools and offices will remain closed on Thursday, January 29, due to hazardous driving conditions ⚠️ Thursday will be an eLearning day for all District Five students 💻All extracurricular activities and events are also cancelled.

After continued evaluation by our inclement weather team and school bus drivers, many secondary roads across the district remain covered in ice. While main roads are improving, more than half of our bus routes are still unsafe for travel at this time. 🚌🚗

With below-freezing temperatures expected again overnight, refreezing and black ice remain a concern, and we cannot risk the safety of our students, staff, or families 💙 We will continue to monitor conditions and share any updates as soon as possible! Stay safe! #WeAreD5

After much evaluation today, all District Five schools and offices will be closed Wednesday, due to hazardous driving conditions 🧊🚧 Wednesday will be an eLearning day for all District Five students. 💻 All extracurricular activities for Wednesday are also cancelled. Our district's inclement weather team surveyed many roads today, and while some main roads have improved, many secondary roads remain covered in ice. We simply cannot risk the safety of our bus riders, families, staff, or student drivers 🚌🚗

We are hopeful conditions will improve over the next 24 hours, but updates will be shared as needed. Stay safe and warm! ❄️

Due to the ongoing effects of the ice storm, all District Five schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. 📚 Tuesday will be an eLearning day for students 💻 All extracurricular activities are canceled.

Road conditions remain hazardous across our district, and extremely cold temperatures are expected to continue. 🧊 If your family is without power or internet access, please focus on staying safe—students will have five school days after we return to complete eLearning assignments.

Due to inclement weather, our Board of Trustees meeting, originally scheduled for Monday, January 26 has been cancelled ❄️ Our Board of Trustees will now meet on Monday, February 2, at its normal location of Duncan Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. 📆

Due to an Ice Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service, all District Five schools and offices will be closed Monday, January 26.📚 Monday will be an eLearning day for students. 💻

With heavy sleet, freezing rain, and potential snow in the forecast, our roads will simply be unsafe for buses, families, or our student drivers to travel. 🚌🚗

We’re making this decision early to give families and our staff time to prepare and to prioritize safety. As we realize the possibility of widespread power outages, please remember: students have five days after returning to school to complete eLearning assignments. Safety is our most important concern!

❄️ Weather update: For the safety of our guests and staff, District Five's Teacher Recruitment Fair this Saturday, January 24, has been canceled.

Help us congratulate our Byrnes Rebel wrestling team for their powerful performance at the county tournament this weekend! 💪🏻 The boys walked away as Spartanburg County Champions 🏆and both boys and girls had several individual champs 👏🏻 Congratulations to: Brett Eagan (138 lb), Conner Beaudin (144 lb), Black Walter (175 lb), Cienna Heiselman (115 lb), Tori Segarra (140 lb) and Leah Rice (145 lb).
