🌟Meet the interns! 🌟
This summer, across District Five, Byrnes High School students are participating in our district's summer internship program 💼

From the Public Relations and Maintenance departments⚒️, to Health Services🩺 and Technology 💻, these students are gaining real life skills and experience for the future! 💫

Today's intern is Easton Schrock! Easton is a rising junior at Byrnes High-School , and is interning in the Maintenance department with the turf crew 🌳. He plans to go to college in the future, and is considering landscaping as a possible career. About his internship experience, Easton says, "I like working at every school in the district. People are nice to talk to on the job."

James Crooks and Avalea Stevens, rising juniors at Byrnes High School, had a blast on the Nile river! 🚣 They also got the opportunity to serve on a mission trip in Kampala! What a great trip! 🎉

Summer is moving along, and our "Where in the World Is District Five" adventures keep rolling in! ❤️Shareka Middleton, teaching assistant at Berry Shoals Elementary, celebrated her daughter Shaniya’s high school graduation with an unforgettable Carnival Mardi Gras cruise🚢! Joining Shaniya were Tayshun (9th grader at Byrnes Freshman Academy), and Tyshann Smith Jr. (5th grader at Berry Shoals Elementary).

The family explored the Bahamas, Cozumel, and Roatán. From soaking up the sun at Celebration Key☀️ to enjoying Guy’s Burgers and plenty of ice cream 🍨, the trip was filled with love, laughter, and a well-deserved break!

This "Where in the World is District Five" adventure takes us to the mountains of Tennessee! 🏔️Mrs. Barbrey, a teacher at Lyman Elementary School, and her daughters, Brynn (4th grader at Lyman) and Bryleigh (8th grader at Dr. Hill Middle School), enjoyed a fun-filled girls’ weekend in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, with their great-aunt and Mimi! From shopping🛍️ and swimming, to an exciting real-life bear hunt🐻, the group made unforgettable memories together in the Smoky Mountains. ⛰️

“Where in The World is D5?”🌎 A’Zyria Jackson, rising 1st grader at Duncan Elementary School, is racing her way to a great summer! 🏃🏾‍♀️She completed her track season and came in 7th out of 15 girls in 6U Shot Put at the All American meet in Jacksonville, Florida!! 🏅We are so proud of you, A’Zyria. Today's "Where in the World Is District Five" adventure will leave you with serious vacation FOMO 😂From the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic Sea to the breathtaking landscapes of Croatia and Bosnia, Heather Atwood, 1st grade teacher at Berry Shoals Elementary, had an unforgettable European adventure! 🌊

She kayaked and swam in the Adriatic, explored the stunning Blue Caves, toured historic castles, hiked through the spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park 🏞️, and enjoyed authentic local cuisine😋. She also walked the ancient walls of Dubrovnik and even visited famous filming locations featured in a popular television series📺! What a dream vacation! 😍

🌲Exploring the Pacific Northwest ✈️

Megan Coker, math teacher at Byrnes High School, and her son Evan, 4th grader at Lyman Elementary, toured the state of Oregon. From climbing Astoria Column to visiting Fort Stevens and the famous Powell's Books 📖, taking a tour of Tillamook ice cream factory 🍦, Crater Lake and Mt. Hood ⛰️, they made it a trip to remember!

Cali Irvin, 7th grader at Abner Creek Middle school, and LaQuentin Jr. Irvin , 5th grader at Reidville Elementary raced their way to AAU junior Olympics after earning qualifying performances at the regional track meet in Georgia.

Laura Jane Willingham, rising senior at Byrnes High School, and her parents, completed an incredible baseball milestone! ⚾The family officially finished their ultimate bucket list quest by visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums,🏟️ crossing their final destination off their list 📋at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
