Chad MaguireA new face will be joining the Spartanburg District Five family next school year, as Chad Maguire has been selected as the next Principal of Beech Springs Middle School. The veteran school administrator brings nearly three decades of experience in education, along with a proven track record of student achievement, strong school culture, and collaborative leadership. “I’m so grateful for this opportunity,” says Maguire. “Spartanburg District Five has such a great reputation for its family feel, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Maguire comes from Sevier Middle School in Greenville County, where he’s served as Principal since 2017. Under his leadership, Sevier has seen remarkable academic growth, earning an “Excellent” rating on the 2025 SC State Report Card and recognition as a Gold High Performing School. During his tenure, the school experienced significant gains in student performance, most notably in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Additionally, Maguire has helped foster a culture of trust amongst students and staff alike, with teacher turnover rates as low as 2%-4% every year.

Prior to his role as principal, Maguire served as an assistant principal at both Woodmont Middle School and Lakeview Middle School, also in Greenville County. He began his career in the classroom as a middle school math teacher in North Carolina, where he also held leadership roles including department chair, athletic director, and math facilitator. Maguire earned his Bachelors in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University, and has a Masters in Middle Level Education and in Educational Leadership, both from Winthrop University.

Maguire also shared his enthusiasm for the future of Beech Springs Middle School. “Beech Springs has a solid foundation that has already been built and has so much potential. I’m excited to continue that momentum and build Beech into the school everyone wants to be at.” He will officially begin at Beech Springs on July 1.
