Spartanburg District Five will be closed on Monday, January 26, due to an Ice Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service. All District Five school buildings and offices will be closed, and Monday will be an eLearning day for all students.
The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy sleet, freezing rain, and the potential for snow from Saturday through Monday. These conditions are expected to create unsafe travel conditions for buses, families, and student drivers across the district.
Teachers have prepared students for eLearning and have already shared information regarding lessons and expectations for Monday. As with any inclement weather event, the district recognizes there is a possibility of widespread power outages. As reference in our eLearning handbook, students have five days after returning to school to complete all eLearning assignments.
Families with questions about eLearning are encouraged to visit the eLearning page of our website, under the Parent section.
As below-freezing temperatures are expected to continue into early next week, district leaders will continue to monitor conditions and communicate any additional schedule changes as information becomes available.
Please stay safe!
