**WEATHER ALERT**
The National Weather Service has issued another strong wind advisory for Friday, January 12. The latest forecast predicts wind gusts up to 50 mph beginning at 1:00 p.m. Due to this advisory - District Five will be operating on a half day schedule tomorrow.
Elementary schools will dismiss at 11:00 a.m., intermediate schools at 11:30 a.m., and middle and high schools will dismiss at 12:00 p.m.
We understand that this may cause an inconvenience for our parents and families. However, the state of SC mandates that school districts keep school buses off the roads when sustained winds are forecasted for 30 miles an hour and gusts exceed 40 miles an hour or more. Also, conditions could potentially not be safe for our student drivers after 1:00 p.m.
Parents who transport your children, please plan to pick up students at these times, so our faculty and staff can travel home safely.
All after school activities and events are also canceled for tomorrow.
We are monitoring the National Weather Service and local forecasts, and should conditions change, we will let our staff, parents and families know as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding as safety is always our top priority in District Five.

Spartanburg District Five will operate on a normal schedule on Wednesday, January 10, for all students and staff. The National Weather Service has not issued any severe weather alerts for Wednesday.
District and transportation leaders will continue to monitor local roads, and should weather conditions change, our staff, parents and families will be notified immediately. Please use caution as you are traveling on Wednesday morning!
We appreciate your patience and understanding, as safety is always our top priority in District Five. #WeAreD5

*WEATHER ALERT*
Tuesday, January 9, will be an e-Learning day for all District Five students and staff.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Spartanburg County and the Upstate due to strong storms that are due to hit our area throughout Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall and winds near school dismissal times could potentially make it too dangerous for our buses, student drivers or families to travel. South Carolina restricts school bus travel if sustained winds hit 30 mph or gusts exceed 40 mph.
Teachers will be in touch with all students regarding assignments. All after school activities and practices are also be canceled for Tuesday. We appreciate your patience and understanding as safety is always our top priority in District Five.

We can't wait to welcome our students and staff back tomorrow! 2024 is going to be a great year! 🎉❤️ #WeAreD5 #D5Family
