A new face has joined the Spartanburg District Five team, as the district is thrilled to welcome Randy Morgan as its new Director of Custodial Services!
Morgan is no stranger to the field, as he comes with 44 years of experience in custodial services and management. He joins District Five from Greenville County, where he served as a Custodial Specialist since 2007. There, he supervised and trained a group of 21 plant engineers, working closely with school administrators and building managers to keep the county’s campuses well maintained, clean and safe. “Since coming to District Five, I’ve just been blown away by the schools and the sense of pride in this district,” says Morgan. “I was impressed by the way the district recognizes the work of its custodial department, and everyone is included in the District Five family. It’s a special place.”
Morgan grew up in the Upstate, and is proud to say he earned his first job at 17 years old, working as a custodian at his alma mater, Woodmont High School, in Greenville. He went on to earn his Associates in Science degree in Business Administration from Southern Wesleyan University. “Randy’s knowledge of the educational world goes well beyond the custodial department,” says Chief of Operations, Ryan Cloonan. “He understands the operational challenges that students and teachers face on a daily basis, and his service mindset guides his department to creating a safer, cleaner, and more inviting learning environment for everyone.”
Morgan joined District Five in late July, and got straight to work, managing the custodial department and a team of employees to prepare our campuses for opening in August. “It’s so important to me to have clean, safe schools where our children can learn,” Morgan says. “My goal is for my team to do everything with a servant’s heart, and for us to take pride and ownership in all that we do.” Welcome Randy Morgan to the District Five family!
