I spy 🕵️ a butterfly. Our 8th graders applied their knowledge of adaptations to a fun I spy project today. They camouflaged their butterflies to adapt the classroom.🦋 Then our admin and teachers came in at the end of the day to find them! The students who's butterflies remained unfound won a prize.🎊 #sciencerocks

We love the smiles from these panthers as they enjoyed the GORGEOUS weather and sunshine today! ☀️

🌟Dive into the world of Shakespeare! Ms. Crabtrees English 1 Honors students collaborated to create insightful "body biographies" of characters from Romeo and Juliet. They gathered evidence to uncover character strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. 🤔 Look at their AWESOME work below! 🤩⬇️

Dr. Williams led our girls in our LIT group last Friday. They've learned and grown so much this year under her guidance! 💜

Our Beech Springs choir traveled to CPA last week received Superior with Distinction (that means every single judge gave the kids superiors)! Way to go! 🎼🎶

All smiles in our Theatre department today as students prepare to perform a dinner theatre for a SOLD OUT audience tonight! Students have worked so hard over the past two months to put on this fun show. Break a leg, cast and crew of Mystery at Shady Acres! 🕵️🎭

We have an amazing staff here at Beech. When students were struggling to understand a math concept, our math interventionist, Mrs. Kinard stepped in to teach it with fresh eyes and a hands on demonstration. We love the support our staff has for each other and how they have the same goals-our student's needs! 💜

"Our little bud." 🌹Students in 8th grade science partnered in pairs to create a little bud. They flipped their sticks to see which allele they'd pass on to their offspring and what genetic trait that would be. 🧬Then they took all the phenotypes and created their little bud. 🌸🌷

FLEX club Fridays took advantage of warm weather and hosted clubs outside today. Take a look at the fun below! ⬇️

Mini musicals, major talent! — Our 6th grade Theatre students are getting ready for an unforgettable in-class performance with singing, dancing, and acting. Bravo to their hard work! 🎭⭐️🎶

Some students in sixth grade had an in-house field trip last week due to their field trip to roper mountain science center being canceled previously. Students learned about natural disasters, which is one of the sixth grade science standards. Students watched a video on extreme weather, played a gimkit, built bird houses to withstand storms, looked at area of geometric figures on weather maps, and created a volcano.

It's a 'Roundup!" Students in Mrs. Landon's classes reviewed vocabulary from their genetic unit by high fiving others to pair with a new allele. They then identified what their new genotype was. 🤠

Have your DNA and eat it too! 🧬Students in 8th grade have learned all about genetics and DNA. Today they created edible models to show which nitrogenous bases paired together. What a sweet lesson! 🍬

It’s always a great start to our day having Pastor Chandler from Church at the Mill speak to our FCA.

Mrs. Collins is putting her PD session on MagicSchool to use! Today she had students chat with the chatbot who was Denmark Vesey. They had to come up with 3 questions to ask him based on his life. Take a look at the video below!

Some of our panthers made it to national honor choir! 🎼

Grow with us! 8th graders plant experiments have finally sprouted and growth is being measured. They're especially curious to see if different liquids have a direct effect on the growth of their plants. We can't wait to check back in a few weeks to find out their results! 🌱

Check out these panthers amazing work! They created maps to demonstrate their knowledge of sectionalism in 8th grade history.

Round 2 of our PD sessions today was led by Geoff Turner. He led a session on EduProtocols and showed our staff how to create thick slides and use fast and furious protocols in their class. We think our students will love these! 💜

This past week our 6th grade students celebrated in the auxiliary gym with a decimal math challenge.
