📢 Important Health Reminder from the Nurse 📢
As the weather changes, it’s essential to keep our students healthy and safe! Here’s a quick guide on when your child should stay home from school:
🤒 Fever: If your child has a temperature over 100.4°F, they must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.
🦠 Contagious Illness: Keep your child home if they have a communicable disease (like the flu or strep throat).
🤢 Vomiting/Diarrhea: Students must be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.
👁 Pink Eye: Highly contagious! Students need to stay home and be on medication for 24 hours before coming back.
👉 Lice Alert: Teach children not to share hats or hair accessories to prevent the spread. If lice are identified, children will need to be picked up for treatment.
Help us reduce the spread of illness by encouraging good health habits:
✅ Plenty of rest and healthy food
✅ Avoid sharing utensils, bottles, or clothing
✅ Practice handwashing or use sanitizer
✅ Cover coughs and sneezes

On Tuesday Mrs. Guy's 4K students had an amazing time on their field trip to Sissy’s Sweets Bakery! They explored the art of baking, learned about sweet treats, and even got to decorate their own goodies. A big thank you to Sissy’s Sweets for providing such a memorable and delicious experience for our little learners!

📬✉️ Spreading kindness, one letter at a time! 💌
Students in Mrs. Phillips' ELA pull-out groups took a special moment to show gratitude to mail carriers for their hard work and dedication. Some students wrote heartfelt letters to Mrs. Sandi, a retired mail carrier and our beloved lunch monitor, while others chose to send their appreciation to Mrs. Phillips’ husband, who is currently delivering mail in our community.
Through this activity, students learned how to write a letter, address an envelope, and even determine the correct postage to mail their letters! What a wonderful way to practice real-world writing skills while spreading kindness on National Mail Carrier Day! ❤️📮

🏴✨ Flags of Wellford Academy! ✨🏴
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders put their creativity and tech skills to work with Ms. Hill to design unique school flags! 🎨💻 Using computer programs, they explored the meaning of flags and symbols, learning how they represent people, places, and ideas. 👩💻💡
These young designers showcased their understanding of symbolism while creating flags that reflect the spirit of Wellford Academy! 🐺❤️🖤

Our 5th graders at Wellford Academy had an out-of-this-world experience with visitors from Watershed! Students explored space, learned about starlight, and investigated how distance affects the brightness of stars. This hands-on learning opportunity sparked curiosity and deepened their understanding of the universe. Keep reaching for the stars, Wolfpack! ⭐🚀
Join us for the Wellford Police Department Polar Plunge: Freezin’ for a Reason on February 14, 2025, at Evolve New Hope Farm Apartment Homes (510 Cedar Tree Road, Wellford, SC 29385)! 📣 Cheer on Chief Green, SRO John Wright, and Principal EJ Bringer as they take the plunge to support Breaking Bread, providing hot meals to those in need in our community. 🌟 Fundraising Goals: • $3,000 for Chief • $4,000 for Chief and SRO • $5,000 for Chief, SRO, and Principal EJ Bringer 🎉 The classroom with the highest donation gets a pizza party with the Principal EJ Bringer, Chief, SRO, and Mayor. Plus, one classroom per grade level with the highest donation wins a popcorn party! 🗓️ Last day to donate: February 13, 2025, by 5:00 PM. 📍 Businesses can donate to the City of Wellford at 307 Spartanburg Highway.
