For our Veterans Day program on Tuesday, November 11, we invite you to dress in red white or blue according to your grade level. ❤️🤍💙

National Career Development Week starts Monday! Join us for some dress up days and fun activities throughout the week!

What an awesome morning for 17 of our 8th graders! They joined Mrs. Charles, Mrs. Holzman, and Mr. Anderson for a tour of the BMW Training Center and had the opportunity to connect with local business vendors and colleges. Our students asked thoughtful questions and we are so proud of the way they represented our school! One student shared, “This has been my favorite field trip! Best day ever!”

Mrs. Kay’s ELA classes created figurative language posters based on a fall image. Next, the classes will trade posters and test their knowledge by identifying the figurative language used.

Ms. Wagaman's classes used various types of candy to build their own animal cells. Vanilla frosting represented the cytoplasm. Pull ‘n’ peel twizzlers represented the cell membrane. Frooties represented the endoplasmic reticulum. Nerds represented the ribosomes. Mini m&ms represented the mitochondria. A satellite wafer represented the nucleus. A hello panda cookie represented the lysosome. Students had a blast and shared that this activity really helped solidify the organelles and their functions in their minds!

We launched our very first in-house mentoring program Friday; Leading the Pack! We are so proud of this group and excited to see them work toward their goals this month!

Who says writing can’t be fun? ✍️
Students in Mrs. Bo’s ELA class took collaboration to a new level by writing right on their tables! They loved brainstorming and planning their writing together in this creative, hands-on way.

The last few days of red ribbon week have been a blast! Today we ended with pajamas because we "dream of a drug free school"!

Join us in teaming up to help our friends fighting cancer on November 6th! Please bring cash!

Yesterday was one of the best days of the year... special Olympic bowling! Ms. Loving's class and their buddies had a blast along with some of Mrs. Kay's students too!

7th grade in PLTW classes made puzzle cubes, and then they went and collected data to see how long it took people to solve it!

After our FCA meeting this morning, students took time to reflect and show support for Jamaica and all those impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
We had an amazing turnout and were proud to see so many students come together in care and concern for others. 🌎

We are so proud of our students who were inducted into Beta Club last night! So much hard work and dedication from each and every one of them!

Congratulations to these four choir students who successfully auditioned into the 2026 South Carolina All State Honor Choir! They will participate in rehearsals and a concert at the end of January at Coastal Carolina University. We are so proud of them!

Red Ribbon Week day 2! Anything but a book bag was anything but dull. Such a hilarious day watching kids walking through the halls with all these crazy items!

Basketball tryouts are coming up! 🏀
Make sure to mark your calendars.

D5 recently hosted a PLTW Showcase for teachers across the Upstate, giving them a hands-on look at how STEM and career-connected learning come alive in the classroom. Visiting educators observed a 7th grade Design & Modeling class as students applied the design process to create their own custom puzzle cubes. Afterward, the guests put their problem-solving skills to the test by trying to solve these puzzles themselves!

Drugs can't find us! Day 1 of Red Ribbon Week was camouflage! (We even had one brave little deer show up too! 🦌)
Don't forget tomorrow is "anything but a book bag day". We can't wait to see all the creative ways you bring your things to school.
