Thank you to all who donated to our Spartanburg Humane Society drive before spring break! We had almost 200 items donated, which will greatly help animals in need. The Beta Club officers helped count and load the items for delivery, and the house winner is...SPIRIT WOLVES! 💜🐺

Mr. Watson's 7th and 8th grade AVID elective students hosted a school career fair yesterday. They took career assessments and spent time researching their chosen careers and future college majors. Today, they spent time presenting careers and practicing public speaking!

What an amazing day! Mrs. Kay's and Mrs. Loving's students, along with our Best Buddies, joined middle and high schools across the district for Unified Field Day. It was wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate inclusion, friendship, and fun. Thank you to all the participants, volunteers, and organizers who made this such a special event! 🌟

We are so incredibly proud to announce that our very own Sofia Duque has been selected for an upcoming exhibition! As part of the Youth Art Month celebration, Sofia's artwork, "Facet of Her", was originally showcased at the Chapman Cultural Center. Because of her exceptional talent, Coldwell Banker Caine, proud sponsors of the Chapman Cultural Youth Art Galleries, has hand-selected her piece to be featured in a special exhibition at their Spartanburg offices through the summer.
Congratulations Sofia!

Mrs. Landon’s 8th grade scientists put their math skills to work in science today! 🧬➗ Students solved algebraic expressions and used Chargaff’s Rule to determine the percentage of nitrogenous bases found in an organism’s DNA. By applying the rule that adenine pairs with thymine and cytosine pairs with guanine, they were able to calculate the remaining base percentages and see how math helps unlock the patterns within DNA. 🔬📊🧠

Mrs. Ohler’s 8th grade general music class just began their music history unit and had a neat opportunity- Mr. Harris, a musician and educator who was subbing in the building, happened to have expertise in the Medieval and Renaissance periods! He shared insights on early music notation and even demonstrated the cornetto, giving our class a fun and unique learning experience.

Teachers + March Madness = 🏀🏆⚓️🤣 Congratulations to Ms. Skinner, who won our March Madness bracket pool for 2026. However, we need to give a huge shout out to Mrs. Sturgis too! She held down last place and was the “anchor” the entire time!

8th grade scientists got hands-on with DNA today… and things got a little sweet! Students built models of the double helix using Twizzlers and marshmallows to represent the nitrogenous base pairings. 🍓🤍
As they matched the correct pairs, they were able to see firsthand how DNA is structured and why those pairings are so important. Learning + creativity + a little candy = a recipe for fun science!
Who knew genetics could be so delicious? 😄🔬

Congratulations to Astrid Jimenez Gracia on being cast as Junie B. Jones for Greer Children’s Theater. She is truly a talented young lady. Please come out and support her in the show - it runs from June 5- 14th!

This week we are celebrating our 3 amazing assistant principals! 🎉
Thank you for your commitment to our students, your tireless work, and the positive difference you make in our school community. We appreciate you more than words can say! 💙🩶💙

Mrs. Landon’s 8th grade science students wrapped up an exciting project before spring break that blended science, creativity, and storytelling! 🎨🧬📚 Students tapped into their imagination as they “Built a Beast” designed to survive in a specific environment using unique adaptations. They didn’t stop there! Students also used their ELA skills to craft a story about their creature and explain how its adaptations helped it survive. But the challenge wasn’t over… 🌪️🌋 After a sudden catastrophe hit their environments, students had to rethink their designs and adapt their beasts again to survive the new conditions. Check out some of their work!

Ms. Stewart’s classes took part in an engaging card game to better understand how quickly the Black Plague spread and the impact it had on populations. This hands-on activity helped bring history to life and gave students a meaningful way to explore how rapidly diseases can affect communities.
