🖼️ CREATIVE FRIDAY 🖼️ Imagine. Create. Inspire. 🎼Band students learned some new choreography for the show. 🪊Mr. Harrison shared his band students practicing this morning. 👩🏼‍🎨Mrs. Sloan's Art 2 Honors completed artist studies and then created a 3D sculpture inspired by their famous artist! 🎻Mrs. Grant’s Orchestra students enjoyed a performance from the Converse University cello choir. They played a short concert and had a question and answer session about music at the college level. 📷Mrs. Chambliss’ Photography students learned about forced perspective and setup their own scenarios. They also experimented with creating ghost images with their pinhole cameras. 🦔Mrs. Chambliss’s’ Art 3 Honors students created drypoint etchings of textured animals and is now adding mixed media. 👟 Mrs. Sheehan’s Art 1 students stepped into 3D design with two amazing projects! 🎨 Shoe-Texture Clay Stamps: To kick off ceramics, students literally stepped on wedged clay to capture patterns from the bottoms of their shoes! These custom stamps are now drying and will soon head to the kiln for a double-firing and vibrant glazing. Costume Changeables: Embracing the magic of character design, the class used creative paper folding to build interactive mix-and-match costumes, allowing for nine unique combinations.🎨

📝CREATIVE FRIDAY 📝 Imagine. Create. Inspire. 🐦‍⬛Mrs. Chandler’s CP English 3 classes read and annotated “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe. Students also read “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe, and they had to speed debate using textual evidence! 🐦‍⬛ Mrs. Harrison’s students enjoyed Edgar Allan Poe Day Activities. 🍫Mrs. Hollis’s students had a trick that turned out to be a treat with Friday’s Taste “Test”. Students explored the effective use of figurative language by enjoying tasty treats while exploring mood & tone with movie posters for Halloween.🎃

We couldn’t let October end without showing our appreciation for our amazing principal, Mrs. Erin Greenway! 💙 Thank you for your leadership, dedication, and commitment to making Byrnes a place where students and staff can thrive. We appreciate all you do each day to make a difference in our Rebel family! Happy National Principals Month! 🎉

College Application Day was a great success last week!! ✔️168 Seniors ✔️398 college applications ✔️15 college admission reps/support agency volunteers ✔️10 BHS staff Special thanks to our Guidance Counselors and Guidance Staff that made it happen!! And to our gracious hosts, Librarians, Mrs. Roberts and Mrs. Dickerson - who elevate any event offered in our Library. Thanks to everyone in the building who played a role!

🏀 Byrnes Boys basketball tryouts for JV and Varsity will be held Wednesday November 4th and Thursday November 5th from 5:30-7 in the main gym! All student athletes trying out must have an updated physical and all forms completed in Arbiter. Please see Coach Fowler, Coach Wimphrie , or Coach Kauffman with any questions.

F.I.G.H.T. (Friends Into Getting Healthy Together) Club put on their helmets and took to the pavement to brush up on their cycling skills after some classroom instruction on bicycle safety with the help of our resident cycling enthusiast, Coach Deering!

They worked on designing a cake with 3D figures and finding the total volume and surface area of their cake.  🎓Mrs. Gilmore’s AVID Students toured Anderson University. Opportunity knowledge in action!

🌎 WORLD WEDNESDAY 🌎 Speak It. Know It. Experience It. 👨🏼‍🍳 Mrs. Petit’s Spanish 2 Honors presented a menu. Each group listed what they needed to buy, where to find the ingredients 🛒, steps to prepare the food 🥘 and how to set the table for this meal. 🍽️ 🧭Mrs. Petit’s Spanish 3 Honors worked with affirmative and negative imperatives by giving directions and advice to move around the city.

Our Movie-Themed Trunk or Treat sponsored by Teacher Cadet and Leadership Byrnes was a great success last night! Thank you to Mrs. Poore and these fabulous students for putting on a great event!

🖥️ Tech Tuesday 🖥️ Power Up Your Future! Last week, in Mr. Warren’s Media Tech class, students conducted a session called “Fix the Production.” In this session, students presented a scenario depicting a potential issue in a broadcast production. Students were divided into groups and tasked with collaboratively identifying and resolving the problem to restore the production to its original state. This hands-on activity involved getting students out of their seats and engaging in group work and proved highly effective in motivating and engaging them.   

Boys Wrestling season will begin on Monday November 2nd. Wrestling practice on November 2nd and 3rd will be 8:00-10:00am. Practices will begin after school on November 4th and will run 4:00-6:00 at Byrnes High School Wrestling room. Athletes must have an updated physical and all forms completed on Arbiter to be able to participate. Middle Schoolers and 9th graders can ride the activity bus over to Byrnes and then will need to be picked up at Byrnes at 6:00.

Move. Lead. Conquer. 🏀 Coach Fowler’s PE3 class started champions week today!! The Runnin’ Rebels are getting ready! 🏋️‍♂️Coach Cross’ Strength and Fitness class was in the weight room today. 🍁 Coach Higdon’s Outdoor Adventure Class build survival shelters and used leaves for insulation. 👔Coach Justus’ AVID seniors taught life skills to their classmates. Knox Clyburn and Zahara Donald practice Life Skills of tying a tie and sewing a button.  🧵🪡 🇺🇸 ROTC has been busy! Including a group photo with Cadet Cara Williams at the Military Officer's Association of America Awards Dinner. 🛫JROTC ERAU Dual-Enrollment class went to Greenville Downtown AirPort for pre-flight training and a lunch on the airport. The JROTC Color Guard supported Senior Night and helped out at the Walnut Grove Plantation All Hallows Eve Trick-Or-Treat event. 🎃

Please Highlight for your fans. 1. TL Hanna is a No Pet Facility. 2. TL Hanna is a clear bag only facility with no allowance for bags that are small. They must be clear bag. 3. TL Hanna used a Weapons Detection Systems for entrance to events. 4.   If students from your school plan to attend the games, they must have a school issued ID badge to enter. Anyone under the age of 18 not with one of the schools participating in the contest must be accompanied by an adult to be admitted.

Abby and Ja’licia persuaded others to watch the upcoming school band performance! (Wearing their band shirts too!) 🤩 👻 Mrs. Watt’s English students worked on an “escape room” review and their haunted house Airbnb projects.

Students used acrylic paint to create these awesome artworks! 💃🏼 Mrs. Archie’s Dance classes worked on the Dance Showcase on Friday November 20 at 6 pm in the Fine Arts Center. 🎀 Mrs. Long’s Art Appreciation students completed Chapter 7 on the Principles of Design with their Ribbons Project. 👩🏻‍🎨 Mrs. Long’s Art 2 students worked hard on their Printmaking Projects! 📸 Mrs. Sheehans Art 1 classes just completed their acrylic self portraits by referencing their images in half. They then arranged the half strategically using seamless acrylic techniques to blend transitions and value temperature and contrast. Better than picture day!
