🦁 Mrs. Wright’s Biology students are finishing up a lion digestion lab that shows students how proteins are digested into amino acids and then are used to synthesize proteins! They are building their very own protein that is used in the body of consumers!
⚡️Mrs. Graham’s Chemistry students made the ATP/ADP cycle with play dough to show how energy is released.
✖️Mrs. Shirley’s Math students Practiced Factoring and completed their first Benchmark.
📊Mrs. Hedgpeth’s Math students created one-pagers from Unit 2.
🔤Mrs. Grimes Math students worked on a lesson about the key features of quadratics.
🎒 Mrs. Gilmore’s students worked in Collaborative Study Groups.

✍️Mrs. Lopez Spanish classes played charades to practice hobby-related vocabulary!
👑Mrs. Yarmolik’s German 2 classes worked on a modern version of the Cinderella fairy tale. They had to come up with an additional scene and assign roles for an expressive classroom dramatization.
👾Mrs. Martin’s students reviewed by playing Gimkit.
🏫Mrs. Petit’s Spanish 3 Honors students created and presented mini posters of school clubs to the class, in Spanish. The lesson was on "be going to + infinitive". Some of them were: club de baile, ABC de cocina and club de teatro.









There will have an interest meeting for Boys Wrestling Thursday September 3rd at 6:00 in the Byrnes High School Cafeteria. This is for any 7th-12th graders interested in learning more about our wrestling program.

Open season for Girls Wrestling will begin Tuesday September 1st. Practices will be in the wrestling room at Byrnes High School. Practices will run 4:00-5:30 on Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays during the month of September.
Freshmen are allowed to ride the activity bus over to Byrnes high school for open seasons workouts.

🩸 Mrs. Bracken’s PLTW: PBS class did a blood spatter lab to determine height from which blood droplets at a crime scene fell.
👥Mrs. Brinsons webpage design students were tasked with creating a website mockup using Canva. The website had to be focused around a student athlete with an NIL deal. After the students completed their mockup, they were tasked with developing and designing a webpage, from scratch, that depicted their Canva mockup.
🎧Mr. Warren’s Media Tech students ran the Jumbotron during last week’s C-Team/JV game against Dorman. This opportunity is part of a district internship program that gives students real-world experience working in live production through Media Tech.
🎥Mr. Baltz Digital Marketing students finished marketing plans last week on music streaming services. Students wrote scripts and filmed their advertisements.

🐶 🍪 ☄️Coach Justus’s AVID 4 students collaborated with the Life Skills Class to draw a dog, step-by-step, they shared cookies their class had baked earlier in the day and then they all went to the gym for some game time. It was a great opportunity for the AVID seniors to spend some time mentoring other students.

📚Ms. Little’s English class worked on a Brochure project in the library.
👥Ms. Chandler’s English classes did a “speed dating” activity where they had to answer thematic, broader questions from The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green! Afterwards, they had to write about which of their peers’ responses stuck with them the most. They also had to rate the response from 1-5 stars (which mimics every chapter in the book of essays that they’re studying).
🤗Mrs. Cathcart’s English classes did a Romanticism scavenger hunt in a section of Jane Eyre, looking for elements of nature, individualism, imagination, and goodness in people.
💬Mrs. Harrison’s AP Literature students used Book Club Conversation Cards.
🗯️Mrs. Bailey’s English students made parts of speech posters.
🎤Mrs. Wyatt’s Yearbook students interviewed each other to practice their interview skills and strategies.
☄️Mrs. Watts’ English students played a game called The Most Ridiculous Game and they were required to use common house tools like tongs or a child’s broom to gather vocabulary clues from a ball pit full of ridiculously random items. Students then race back to the table to create matches with their team.

🎨Mrs. Sheehan’s Art 1 class prepped projects about understanding the versatility and joy of watercolor.
✏️ Mrs. Long’s Art 2 Class completed their Sketch Assignments on Shading Techniques.
🖼️ Mrs. Long’s Art Appreciation Class learned about appropriation by recreating the Mona Lisa.
🤪Mrs. Chambliss’ Honors Art 3 students wrapped up their Funny Phobia projects! The goal was to change the overall emotion of the phobia.
📷 Mrs. Chambliss’ Photography class finished building pinhole cameras and has been testing out exposures.
🎻Mrs. Grant’s Chamber Orchestra worked on a professional recording. 🗡️Mr. Thorntons Colorguard class worked on new Sabre choreography. 🎺 Mr. Thornton’s Symphonic Band class worked on Fundamentals.
🎶 Mr. Gunter’s Chorus students completed a team building exercise for Bel Canto and they rehearsed We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace.
🖍️Mrs. Sloan's Art 2 class completed their first project, "Overlapping Initials". Students used color pencils to create a unique composition and worked on their color blending techniques.
