Imagine. Create. Inspire. 📚Ms. Little’s English class worked on a Brochure project in the library. 👥Ms. Chandler’s English classes did a “speed dating” activity where they had to answer thematic, broader questions from The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green! Afterwards, they had to write about which of their peers’ responses stuck with them the most. They also had to rate the response from 1-5 stars (which mimics every chapter in the book of essays that they’re studying). 🤗Mrs. Cathcart’s English classes did a Romanticism scavenger hunt in a section of Jane Eyre, looking for elements of nature, individualism, imagination, and goodness in people. 💬Mrs. Harrison’s AP Literature students used Book Club Conversation Cards. 🗯️Mrs. Bailey’s English students made parts of speech posters. 🎤Mrs. Wyatt’s Yearbook students interviewed each other to practice their interview skills and strategies. ☄️Mrs. Watts’ English students played a game called The Most Ridiculous Game and they were required to use common house tools like tongs or a child’s broom to gather vocabulary clues from a ball pit full of ridiculously random items. Students then race back to the table to create matches with their team.

Imagine. Create. Inspire. 🎨Mrs. Sheehan’s Art 1 class prepped projects about understanding the versatility and joy of watercolor. ✏️ Mrs. Long’s Art 2 Class completed their Sketch Assignments on Shading Techniques. 🖼️ Mrs. Long’s Art Appreciation Class learned about appropriation by recreating the Mona Lisa. 🤪Mrs. Chambliss’ Honors Art 3 students wrapped up their Funny Phobia projects! The goal was to change the overall emotion of the phobia. 📷 Mrs. Chambliss’ Photography class finished building pinhole cameras and has been testing out exposures. 🎻Mrs. Grant’s Chamber Orchestra worked on a professional recording. 🗡️Mr. Thorntons Colorguard class worked on new Sabre choreography. 🎺 Mr. Thornton’s Symphonic Band class worked on Fundamentals. 🎶 Mr. Gunter’s Chorus students completed a team building exercise for Bel Canto and they rehearsed We Shall Walk Through the Valley in Peace. 🖍️Mrs. Sloan's Art 2 class completed their first project, "Overlapping Initials". Students used color pencils to create a unique composition and worked on their color blending techniques.

The Byrnes Wrestling PE students are currently selling raffle tickets for some pretty cool prizes. The tickets are $5 each and we will have 5 winners. If you are interested in getting some tickets please find your favorite Rebels wrestler for details and to purchase tickets.

Ethics Bowl will have an interest meeting today during FLEX in room 2145.

The PSAT will be administered at Byrnes High School on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and is open to students in 10th and 11th grades. The PSAT is free for all Byrnes High School 10th-grade students. Byrnes 11th-grade students are also encouraged to participate and may register for a $15 fee. Homeschooled students are welcome to participate and will also pay a $15 registration fee. Registration Deadline: Friday, September 18, 2026 Students interested in taking the PSAT should be sure to register by the deadline. Sign up using the Google Form provided on the Byrnes website.

Create. 🩺Mr. Rider’s College Algebra class used modeling to estimate health care costs.   📝Ms. Sirovatka’s Algebra 1 students played a review game to prepare for their test tomorrow and also worked on their AVID one pagers as a way to review. ✖️Mrs. Shirley’s Algebra 2 class prepared for their first test on Polynomials.

Create. .🦐Biology students in Mrs. Wright’s class, Mrs. Kuronya’s class and Dr. Parker’s class did a brine shrimp lab to show how humans are impacting the salinities of the great lake ecosystems. 🔥Mrs. Holiday’s Chemistry students completed a flame test lab to qualitatively analyze metal ions in solution to find the “unknown X” using flame colors and spectroscopy. 🍗🫛🟡🧬 Mrs. White’s AP Biology students built models of macromolecules. 🌌Mrs. Luttrells Earth Science class modeled the universe with a balloon and drew dots to represent galaxies to show expansion in the Hubble Constant Lab. 🫆Mrs. Demumbreum's Forensic Science class researched Forensic topics in the library for their upcoming presentations.

Experience It. #️⃣Ms. Patinella’s German students played a language comprehension game called Numbered Heads. 👥Ms. Petits Honors Spanish 3 students were job recruiters and job applicants. They rotated to interview each other in Spanish in order to find the best workplace or candidates based on their company/skills. 💬Mrs. Martin’s French students answered questions about themselves using irregular verbs. 🖍️Mrs. Greenfield’s Spanish 1 students worked on Project #1 Blackout Poetry (Portia Oculta). 🎭 Mrs. Liu’s Chinese 1 students acted out the characters they have learned. ➕Mrs. Yarmolik’s German 3 students practiced the comparative forms of adjectives by analyzing various statistical data.  🎶Mrs. Garcias Spanish 1 students worked on a project deconstructing song lyrics and turning them into poems.

Conquer. 😴 💤 Coach Justus’s Personal Health and Wellness students participated in station work about the impacts of sleep. 🏋️‍♂️Coach Higdon’s Fitness and Toning Class was in the weight room today. 🤼 Coach Pruitt’s PE3 Wrestling students were in the weight room today. 🏀 Coach Fowler’s Basketball PE 3 Class took to the court today. 🟠 Coach Digg’s PE classes played Rebel Ball. 💪🏼 Coach Cross’s Strength and Fitness class was in the weight room today.
