Spartanburg District Five parents and families can begin planning for next school year, as the district has officially released its 2023--24 school year calendar. The calendar was unanimously approved by the district Board of Trustees at its January meeting. Students in District Five, along with those in all Spartanburg County school districts, will start the school year on Monday, August 14, 2023.
Winter holidays for the upcoming school year will be observed December 21-January 3. Students and staff will be off for Spring Break April 1-5.
As it did last year, the 2023-24 calendar includes two student "early release days" to allow for much needed professional development for District Five teachers and staff. Early release days for the 2023-24 school year are scheduled for October 4, 2023 and February 28, 2024.
The 2023-24 school year will end on Thursday, May 23, 2024, for students. As required by the state of South Carolina, makeup days are built into the calendar, should the district have to cancel school due to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances.
