Mrs. Collins’ 2nd graders have been hard at work learning about 3-digit numbers and place value. Using base ten blocks, they built numbers to better understand how hundreds, tens, and ones come together. Way to go, 2nd grade mathematicians! 🔢👏

🚨🐾 Our Paw Patrol is on a roll! 🐾🚨
This week, our student leaders stepped up in a big way—welcoming classmates with warm smiles, helping in the car line, guiding friends in the hallways, and lending a hand in the cafeteria. We are so proud of these role models for making a positive impact all around our school! ❤️👏

🍫🥨 Last week’s Foodie Friday in Mrs. Cox and Mrs. Whitener’s kindergarten class was such a treat! After reading A Camping Spree with Mr. McGee, students made their own trail mix to go along with the camping theme. ⛺️✨ We love Foodie Fridays in kindergarten! 🐺❤️🖤

✏️✨ Ms. Walts’ 1st graders have been hard at work practicing their handwriting skills and learning correct letter formation! We are so proud of their focus, effort, and accomplishments as they continue to grow as writers. 🐺❤️🖤

🔎📏 Mrs. Jones’ 5th graders put their math and science skills to work during station rotations! Students explored measurement and observation by using hands-on tools to gather data, compare results, and sharpen their problem-solving skills. We love seeing our Wolfpack learning in action! 🐺❤️🖤

✨ More exciting STEM news! ✨

Last week in Ms. Hill’s Innovation Station, Maria, one of our 4th graders, was working with Ozobots while learning about the STEM design process. She created a rainbow path for her bot to follow, but her first design didn’t work—the lines were too thick and close together for the Ozobot to read.

Instead of giving up, Maria looked up and asked, “What can I do to make it so the Ozobot works?” 💡 That simple question showed she was already in the Evaluate, Share, and Improve stages of the STEM design process!

She reworked her design, drew out her new code, and this time… it worked! ✅ The joy on her face said it all—success through problem-solving, creativity, and persistence! 🌈🤖

Mrs. Ward’s 3rd graders put their engineering hats on this week with the help of our new STEM Coach, Mrs. Rickman! 🧑‍🔬✨

Students followed the STEM Design Process step by step:
✏️ Day 1: They journaled and sketched their ideas.
🏗️ Day 2: They built and tested their towers (pictured).
💡 Next up: Reflecting on ways to improve and then re-designing a stronger, better tower!

We love watching our Wolfpack thinkers grow as problem-solvers, creators, and engineers! ❤️🐾

🎶 Join the Wellford Academy Chorus! 🎶

We’re excited to kick off our school chorus this year, and we’d love for our students to be part of it! Chorus will meet Thursdays after school until 3:15 p.m. starting August 28.

During rehearsals, students will:
🎤 Warm up their bodies and voices
🎵 Learn to read music
🥁 Play instruments
🎼 Explore different music styles in a fun group setting

We’ll have several performances throughout the year, so it’s going to be an exciting season!
