🥍Exciting news for Wellford Academy! D5 Lacrosse joined us during PE to introduce our students to the basics of lacrosse.
From learning how to handle the stick to practicing some fundamental moves, our kids had a fantastic time exploring this fast-paced and skillful sport!

🩰Ballet Spartanburg paid 3rd graders a visit yesterday to show how to connect the art of dance to science.🥼The certified dance instructor demonstrated how the arts can be used to teach STEAM concepts and inspire learning. Students learned new dance concepts to choreograph a science topic that followed a pattern. Students chose 🐶animal/insect life cycles, patterns of the 🌙moon and sun, the 💧water cycle, and more! 😀
📚✨ This week in Mrs. Crocker’s class, our amazing guest readers took center stage! They shared their favorite stories with the classmates, building confidence and inspiring a love for reading. We are so proud of these young leaders! ✨📚

🎃🌾 Pumpkin Patch Fun in 4K! 🌾🎃 Our 4K students had an exciting in-house field trip to the Wellford Pumpkin Patch today! After hearing a delightful story read by our Literacy Coach, Mrs. Kinard, they enjoyed exploring the pumpkins and soaking in all the autumn fun. 📚🍂 Learning, laughter, and pumpkins—what a perfect combination! Thank you Mrs. Kinard for making this an experience these students won't forget!🎃✨

🎶 Science in action!
Our 4th graders in Ms. Jacks’ class had a blast building longitudinal waves using straws to explore how sound works. They learned how changes in amplitude and wavelength can affect the volume and pitch of sound waves. Such a creative way to make science come to life!

Our 1st, 2nd, and 5th graders are taking a journey through space! 🌞🌙✨ They’re diving into the mysteries of the sun, moon, stars, constellations, and the entire solar system. From discovering patterns in the universe to learning how gravity keeps it all in balance, these young astronomers are broadening their understanding of our place in the universe. 🌌

Our 4th grade math teachers at Wellford Academy are hard at work during their PLC meetings, diving deep into division strategies to ensure our students have a solid understanding of this key concept! 💡
They're collaborating, sharing ideas, and planning engaging ways to teach division, so our students can tackle the topic with confidence later this month! 🧠✨
❄️ Winter Warmth Project at Wellford Academy ❄️
As the temperatures drop, let's come together to spread some warmth! ❤️ Now through November 1st, we're collecting new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to donate to families in need in Western North Carolina. 🧥🧣
Your donations will help keep our neighbors warm this winter season. Drop off your items in the collection boxes near the main stairs at school and make a difference!

🚀🌌 What an out-of-this-world day at Wellford Academy! Our first-ever STEM Shut Down was a blast, with activities for every classroom focused on space and STEM. 🪐
Both students and teachers had a stellar time building rockets, coding robots, creating delicious food models of the sun and moon, designing astronaut boots, and building rovers ready for a mission to Mars! 👩🚀🤖
The excitement and creativity were sky-high, and we can’t wait to see where our next STEM adventure takes us! 🌠
