We are starting the First Lego League at TRE! We are looking for 10 students in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade to be part of our team. Students who want to apply to be part of the team can pick up an application starting this Friday, December 6.
Membership will include weekly afterschool meetings and at least one competition with other schools within District 5. More information is coming soon!

Before break, our fourth grade celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday with their own Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!
Pictures with Santa will take place at TRE on Friday, December 6th during the school day. Pictures are$10 each and all proceeds will help purchase books for our school.
Completed forms and money must be returned by Thursday, December 5th. Make checks payable to Tyger River Elementary. Pictures will be sent home the week of December 9th.
Flyers will be sent home with students this afternoon.
Our students have been learning about Native American Heritage Month in the Media Center for November. This month, our first graders read "We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga" and learned about Cherokee traditions for each season of the year. Then they created a craft to show what they are grateful for during each season.
Thank you to all of our K5 and 1st Grade parents, friends, and family members who came to support our students at the Thanksgiving Program yesterday. Our students were so excited to see you!

It's #NationalSTEMDay and we are so excited to celebrate the amazing lessons that are going on in Mrs. Salway's classes. Here's a sneak peek into her STEM classroom...
In this lesson, fifth grade students explore how incredibly salty the ocean is, even though we can't see the salt! In the activity, Tiny Ocean, students create a model ocean to observe how salt seems to completely vanish when dissolved in water.
Students then measure and graph quantities of the water and salt to provide evidence that, even though we can’t see it, the salt still weighs the same amount. Students also create a model salt flat, allowing the water to evaporate, leaving the salt behind.
Tomorrow is Make-Up Picture Day for any student that missed the original date. Please come dressed in your best and ready to smile!

Mr. Daugherty is caring, compassionate, and is always looking for new ways to make our school even better. He greets our students and staff each morning with a smile and is always making us laugh. TRE is so lucky to have him!

Today Fifth graders at TRES enjoyed a free, outdoor farmers market with fresh, locally sourced fruits and veggies. 🥕🥔🍅🫛
Students used “market cash” to purchase their selections – ranging from gala apples, pears, and sweet potatoes to carrots, tomatoes, and butternut squash.
Students were also given recipe cards to take home and help turn their items into tasty dishes!

Each school in South Carolina can choose six students to audition for the South Carolina Elementary Honor Choir and all six of our students were selected! This is a great honor and privilege!

The staff of TRE is so lucky to have an amazing PTO who takes such good care of us! Today the Tyger River PTO provided an "Apple Buffet" to the school staff. Thank you for always being so thoughtful.

The Boys and Girls Club at TRE will be hosting a food drive from October 28-November 1st. Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the TRE Front Office in the yellow school bus.

Our fourth grader's got an exciting treat this week and took a field trip to the movie theater to see "The Wild Robot."
Ms. Mix's class came to the library this week for a fun STEM lesson! They read "Room on the Broom" by Julia Donaldson and worked together to build their own brooms that could hold five pumpkins.
We will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week Oct. 28th - Nov. 1st.
