For the past month our Kindergarten classes dove into their very first author study in the library — exploring the playful stories of Daniel Bernstrom. Students read three titles: "A Bear, A Bee, A Honey Tree", "Gator, Gator, Gator", and "One Day in the Eucalyptus , EucalyptusTree". 🐻🐝🐊

They practiced listening for patterns, explored vocabulary, and shared favorite parts during story discussions and activities. To wrap up the unit, students voted for their favorite book — and the winner was "One Day in the Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Tree"!

As a special finale, they received a special message from the author and then read his favorite childhood story, Corduroy, with Mrs. Smith.

🚓❤️ Our TRE Student Council spent time today making heartfelt cards to include with the Kindergarten service project — a care package of snacks and drinks for our local law enforcement officers. Students added bright drawings, thank-you notes, and encouraging messages to show appreciation for the everyday work officers do to keep our community safe.

Thank you to our Kindergarten classes for organizing the snacks and to every student who helped make a card. Small acts of kindness like this teach empathy, civic responsibility, and community connection.

Mrs. Roper's class surprised Officer Brooks today for SRO Appreciation Day! We are so grateful to have such an amazing SRO.

Help us support local law enforcement! K4 and K5 will be collecting bottled water and snack bars for the Duncan and Lyman police department. These donations can be used by offices when they respond to calls that require a law enforcement presence for long periods of time and officers are unable to leave to get a meal. They will also allow officers to provide water and a snack to people they encounter who are in need. Collection Dates: Monday, February 16th to Friday, February 20th

Tyger River Elementary celebrates SRO Appreciation Day by recognizing Officer Brooks for keeping our school safe, calm, and welcoming every single day. Officer Brooks greets students with a smile, builds trusting relationships, and steps in as a mentor, role model, and friend to our school community. Stuff’d Pals Reading Buddies are coming to our school this March! 💚🐻🧸

Reading Buddies are 16” high-quality, eco-friendly stuffed animals that help students develop a love of reading! Older students can practice reading to their Reading Buddy each night, while younger students can cuddle up with their Reading Buddy as they read along with family members.

Reading Buddies, along with outfits and other awesome rewards, can be earned by participating in our upcoming Stuff’d Pals Buddy-a-thon FUN-draiser!! Qualifying students will get to select and help build the buddy of their choice at our awesome Stuffing Party, taking place during the school day.

Full details will be sent home on Tuesday!

To welcome students back after our winter storm, the students in Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Ferrell's K5 class made marshmallow snowflakes and did snowman writing in their warm classroom!

What a fun 100th day of school in Mrs. Tabors McCarty's class! Her students counted to 100 with dots by adding 67 and 33! Then, they practiced counting to 100 by adding 100 fruit loops to a necklace. (And then enjoyed eating most of them!) #100thdayofschool
