📢 Miss Culbertson’s 3rd Graders Are Mining for Knowledge!** ⛏️🍪
This week, students learned about the four uses of land in an economy—including mining. To bring it to life, they became cookie miners, using toothpicks to carefully extract chocolate chips. 🍫⛏️ What a sweet way to learn! 🌍💡 #TREThirdGrade #MiningForKnowledge

The Terriers are always learning...even at home! Ms. Shaw's students have been practicing their fractions and were challenged to send pictures of themselves using fractions at home during e-learning.
Check out these Terriers practicing math in the kitchen! 👏🏻🥣

The Terrier family is excited to announce our first Teacher of the Year and Support Employee of the Year! Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Heather Cassidy, and our Support Employee of the Year, Christy Lautrey.
Both contribute so much to our school and we are so excited to celebrate their hard work!

Students have been learning about the life cycle of pumpkins in the library. On Halloween, our K4 classes planted "Cookie Monster" in a container in the library. For months, students watched the pumpkin decompose and change during their library visits.
On Monday, we returned to school to find that our pumpkin had sprouted seedlings. After 122 days, our students were so excited to see the next step of the life cycle! 🎃🌱

Last Friday was our first round of golden tickets! There were so many smiling faces as prizes were handed out. 🎟️
Does your student have their golden ticket ready to exchange for prizes? If not, you can just go to the fundraiser website and insert 10 valid email addresses.

Read Across America Week is off to an amazing start at TRE! This morning, our students read "Green Eggs and Ham" with our cafeteria manager, Ms. McAbee. Classes also have their own special reading challenges for the week.
Mrs. Cassidy's and Mrs. Hinch's classes are attempting to read a book from each of the fifty states! They started reading today and colored a map to track their progress. Check out their progress! 📖🗺️✅

We ❤️ lessons with our Tech Coach, Ms. Allison! This week, Mrs. Wood and Mrs. Rice's students got to experience another one of her fun lessons.
First grade has been learning about central idea and supporting details in informational texts, and Mrs. Allison taught them how use their notes to put it into Book Creator! 📖✍️💻
Students had fun collaborating and making their page their own!

This week, our 4th grade classes participated in an activity to learn about the history leading up to the American Revolution. Queen Jackson and Queen Gillespie's colonists led a protest at the end of the day to encourage the other colonists in Queen Hinch and Queen Cassidy's room to rebel. What a fun way to learn history!

We will be celebrating #readacrossamericaweek from March 3-7! Check out the fun activities that we have planned for the week!

This week, two of our Terriers had the opportunity to attend a Legislative Hill Day with our D5 Teacher Forum. Katie Farr and Gena Corbitt had the opportunity to engage with lawmakers, tour the SC Senate Chamber and advocate for education. What a great opportunity to advocate for our students!

Our 1st and 2nd grade STEM classes have been working to build 3D playgrounds that can provide shade to protect from the sun's UV rays. They worked together to build playgrounds, then placed special beads strategically around the playground to see if their structures provided protection. If the beads didn't turn purple or pink, they were protected from the sun's rays. What an awesome way to learn skills that apply to our everyday lives! #STEM

Did you see the snow today? ❄️🌨️☃️
The Terriers made sure to enjoy every second of the snow! We had so much fun playing together.
