What a magical night — thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Merry & Bright Family Night! Students enjoyed photos with Santa, cookies and milk, festive crafts, and cozy Christmas read‑alouds from our wonderful special guest readers. Your smiles and school spirit made the night truly special. We can’t wait to celebrate with you again! 🎄✨

This week, our kindergarteners had a very special guest! Superintendent Dr. Gary came to read "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies" with Mrs. Thompson’s class! The students giggled at the mouse’s antics, joined in with predictions, and practiced great listening and sharing.

A huge thank-you to Dr. Gary for spending time with some of our youngest learners and supporting early literacy. Moments like this make our school community stronger — and reading more fun!

Exciting news! TRE had 16 of our 4th and 5th graders represent TRE at the district level on December 1st at the 2025 District Honor Choir Clinic and Concert. 🎼🎶🎹

After practicing their music for several weeks, they got to join the other district honor choir members from across the district for a clinic and concert. Congratulations on a job well done!

Mrs. McCarty's class had a special guest visitor today! An elf came to their classroom and they named her Candy. ❄️⛄🎅🏼 Candy was sweet enough to wrap up the Promethean board to make their classroom even more festive. 🎁

Our incredible fifth graders spent time in the TRE Clothing Closet as part of a Thanksgiving service project — learning firsthand the power of helping others. They sorted and bagged clothing, put items on hangers, organized newly donated racks, and labeled everything to make it easy for anyone in need to find what they’re looking for.

We’re proud of their compassion, teamwork, and commitment to making our school and community a kinder place. Thank you, students and volunteers, for showing what service looks like in action! 🙌🍂

This week, some of our youngest learners designed and built their very own parade balloons, then brought them to life in a joyful recreation of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade — complete with cheering, an excited audience, and tiny marchers full of pride. To top it all off, we shared a warm, community-style Charlie Brown Thanksgiving feast: popcorn, jelly beans, and plenty of friendship.

Huge thanks to our teachers, families, and students for making tradition, creativity, and gratitude come together in one unforgettable celebration. 🥰🎉

Students enjoyed reading by flashlight, glowing decorations, and tasty fun snacks while celebrating their hard work. The room was full of smiles, bright books, and proud readers — thank you to our teachers and families for supporting literacy every step of the way.

Mrs. Cassidy’s 4th grade class visited the library for a special lesson during Native American Heritage Month. Together with the librarian they read Keepunumuk: Weeâchumun's Thanksgiving Story and then used PebbleGo to research the Native American peoples of the Southeast United States.

Ms. Mackey and Glenn’s 5th grade classes visited the library for a special lesson honoring Native American Heritage Month. Together with the librarian they read The Rough-Face Girl, an Algonquin Cinderella story, then reviewed character traits and completed a hands-on craft to build their own story structures.

It was an exciting week at TRE as we hosted our second @girlswhocode meeting! 🚀💻✨This program is designed to help introduce girls to coding and increase future female professionals in the world of coding and engineering.

During our first two meetings, our members got to participate in hands‑on computer programming activities and fun unplugged coding challenges. We can't wait to watch them build problem‑solving skills, teamwork, and confidence. #GirlsWhoCode #STEMforAll

Today our curious 3rd graders from Tyger River Elementary visited Roper Mountain Science Center — and what a day of discovery! Students explored hands‑on exhibits, met live animals, and conducted experiments that brought classroom science to life. Big smiles, thoughtful questions, and teamwork everywhere we looked.

Thanks to the Roper Mountain staff for an engaging, memorable field trip that sparked wonder and deeper learning. Proud of our Tigers for their curiosity and enthusiasm! 🐯🔬🌟

Mark your calendar for the TRE Merry & Bright Family Night on Tuesday, December 9th. The event is $10 per child and includes a cookie and milk, craft, read aloud, a visit with Santa Joe, and a printed 4x6 picture with Santa.

Registration forms will be sent home with your students. Sign up now to reserve your spot for this fun family event! All forms and payments need to be returned to you oldest child's teacher by Tuesday, November 25th.

Proceeds will be used to sponsor Christmas wish lists for our community at the MTCC and help purchase a school mascot for Tyger River Elementary School.

Thanks to the amazing support of our school community for our recent Tat Attack initiative, we raised $750 for the Middle Tyger Community Center. With the funds, our Terriers were able to provide immediate needs, including breakfast items, canned meats, and pasta sauce—helping many families right when they needed it most. We are so proud of our students and grateful to everyone who contributed. Together, we’re making a real difference! Thank you to everyone who helped make this success for our community.
