E-learning Day for D5

District Five Family,

We have some important information to share with you, regarding a change to our District Five calendar and upcoming school schedule.

After much thought and consideration, we have decided that Monday, April 8 will be an eLearning day for all District Five students due to the solar eclipse that is expected to occur that day.  This change is being observed across all Spartanburg County school districts.  The eclipse is predicted to occur during afternoon dismissal times, posing a potential safety risk to our students and staff.  Additionally, the district feels it might be unsafe for our buses or student drivers to be on the roads during the height of the event.

This change in schedule is for all District Five students, teachers and staff.  Only 12 month employees will report to work on Monday, April 8.  Further details regarding eLearning instruction for that day will come in the near future.

Athletic and after school activities will be allowed on Monday, April 8, but only after 5:00 p.m., once the eclipse has passed.

We are sharing this information with you first, and will be communicating this message to our parents and families very shortly.

We appreciate your cooperation and support, as safety is always our top priority in District Five!
