Chorus students playing solfège keepy-uppy to work on pitch familiarity and accuracy, as well as teamwork skills.


In Mrs. Waters’ 8th grade Science classes, students are working in groups to utilize their knowledge of Newton’s 3 Laws of Motion to create paper roller coasters that can carry a marble for the longest period of time without stopping. They are creating amazing designs!

The theatre department at D.R. Hill Middle School is working hard to put together our upcoming production of James and the Giant Peach Jr! Here is a behind the scenes look at James and the Insects learning music to Floatin' Along!

Mrs. Bowles student scientists learned about the Law of Conservation of Mass using glow sticks. Students compared the pre-activated and post-activated mass of glow sticks to illustrate that mass isn’t created or destroyed during chemical reactions.


Girl's Walking Club kicked off October with a crisp morning and a beautiful sunrise!



In Mrs. Sud's classes, after learning about Thermal Energy and Heat Transfer, the students designed and tested houses to help "Save the Penguins."









It's the great pumpkin chaser! Come out for SCCs Fall Festival on October 18th from 4-8:30pm at the Spartanburg (Giles) Campus.

Student's in the AVID elective practiced their cursive letters in preparation for writing their full names. We discussed the purpose for the tails in each letter as well as the different styles of cursive.



This past weekend, several orchestra students auditioned for the Region One Honor Orchestra. Our students competed against students from all of Spartanburg, Laurens, and York Counties to be a part of this honor group. The following students were accepted into this orchestra:

Ms. Leonard's students are working on using the historical skills of causation, context, and examining historical evidence and theories to determine what they believe happened to the settlers of the Lost Colony of Roanoke!

Students worked hard all week to raise money for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. After surpassing the school’s fundraising goal, Mr. Swann, Mr. Cotter, Mr. Wenger, and Mr. Haskins celebrated by dyeing their beards purple. Way to go, Tigers!

Spirit Week fun continues!






Camp Leopold visited Mrs. Bowles class to teach students about pH. Students had a quick lesson about what pH is, predicted the pH of common household items and then tested the pH of different solutions and mixtures. A big thanks to Camp Leopold for partnering with Tiger Student Scientists!

Ms. Sud's students enjoyed a friendly game of kickball during our Spirit Week Kickball Elimination Tournament and Twin Day!
