Applications are being accepted for USC Upstate's Scholars Academy. Interested students can apply online at https://uscupstate.edu/academics/academic-centers-and-services/scholars-academy/. Applications are due by/on February 5th.

The Scholars Academy is a partnership between Spartanburg County Schools and USC Upstate that allows advanced learners an opportunity to take college courses and advanced high school classes over four years while still participating in classes and extracurricular activities at Byrnes.

It is HIGHLY encouraged for students and parents considering applying to attend one of the two scheduled Potential Scholars Seminars.

We are proud to announce that Mrs. Parlier has been named our Distinguished Literacy Teacher of the Year, recognizing her outstanding dedication to literacy instruction and her commitment to helping every student succeed. The Distinguished Teacher of Literacy award is presented annually by the Spartanburg County chapter of the Palmetto State Literacy Association, recognizing educators who make a strong impact on reading and writing instruction.

Dental Screenings
November 5th

A few members of the DRH Girl’s Walking Club participated in the Alzheimer’s walk Saturday morning. Thanks to the generous donations from our parents and students, we raised $365 towards the cause to end Alzheimer’s.

Wrestling season will begin on Monday November 2nd. Practices on November 2nd and 3rd will be 8:00-10:00am. Practices will begin after school on November 4th and will run 4:00-6:00 at Byrnes High School Wrestling room. Athletes must have an updated physical and all forms completed on Arbiter to be able to participate.

Middle Schoolers and 9th graders can ride the activity bus over to Byrnes and then will need to be picked up at Byrnes at 6:00.

📚➕➗ Math in action at The Hill! 🐯 Ms. Zwicker and Ms. Grindle worked with Ms. Steighner's students on concrete and pictorial math strategies to strengthen their understanding of addition and multiplication when working with fractions and equations. These hands-on and visual approaches help students build a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and grow their confidence as problem-solvers!

7th Grade Atlanta Field Trip

The Georgia Aquarium's Ocean Voyager exhibit holds 6.3 million gallons of water and features a 100-foot underwater tunnel with a moving walkway. Seventh grade students have the opportunity to explore the underwater home of sharks, rays and many other underwater creatures without getting soaked! There are 13 spots left for the Atlanta field trip for students and parents. Remember all payments are made online and permissions slips are turned in to Mrs. Bowles. The World of Coke covers 20 acres of memorabilia and artifacts of the Coca-Cola company. Seventh grade students and families have the opportunity to explore every bit of it on our field trip on March 22. A highlight of the tour is the tasting room in which guests are able to sample 100 different Coca-Cola products from around the world! There are currently only 15 available spots left!
