This past weekend, several orchestra students auditioned for the Region One Honor Orchestra. Our students competed against students from all of Spartanburg, Laurens, and York Counties to be a part of this honor group. The following students were accepted into this orchestra:

Ms. Leonard's students are working on using the historical skills of causation, context, and examining historical evidence and theories to determine what they believe happened to the settlers of the Lost Colony of Roanoke!

Students worked hard all week to raise money for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. After surpassing the school’s fundraising goal, Mr. Swann, Mr. Cotter, Mr. Wenger, and Mr. Haskins celebrated by dyeing their beards purple. Way to go, Tigers!

Spirit Week fun continues!
Camp Leopold visited Mrs. Bowles class to teach students about pH. Students had a quick lesson about what pH is, predicted the pH of common household items and then tested the pH of different solutions and mixtures. A big thanks to Camp Leopold for partnering with Tiger Student Scientists!
Ms. Sud's students enjoyed a friendly game of kickball during our Spirit Week Kickball Elimination Tournament and Twin Day!

Mrs. Bowles' students tested the physical and chemical properties of mystery metals and powders to determine their composition as a part of their unit on matter.
Who says carpet time is only for little kids? Mrs. Burrell’s middle schoolers are working hard (and having fun) learning about text structure!
Ms. Stom’s math classes created a graphic organizer in groups using their notes on integer operations.
Mrs. Brown's class worked with Mrs. Lyda, our Media Specialist, in the lbrary. Student's learned how to use Book Creator to create digital books using conflict and plot.
AVID Elective students participated in a List-Group-Label strategy as an introduction to the Focused Note Taking unit. After listing types of note taking inside and outside of school, students grouped and labeled them. Next week all classes will review each other's work.
Sixth and seventh grade AVID students participated in team building exercises on Friday. Today's Scooter Cup Challenge winners were 7th Grade at 36 seconds followed by 6th grade with 53 seconds. Way to go teams!!!

Mrs. Robinson’s 6th grade Woodwinds and Mr. Cotter’s 6th grade Brass came together for their very first combined rehearsal today! They are having a great time learning all about their instruments and reading music!
