Join us this Friday for the return of our annual Powder Puff Game vs. Florence Chapel Middle School!
The After School Special is available for students for a cost of $10 which includes staying after school until the game starts, admission to the game, and a choice of either chips, candy, or drink from concessions.

Reminder - Rock our School is next week. All students and staff are encouraged to participate each day!

We will celebrate Red Ribbon Week Monday, October 23rd. The theme this year is Be Kind to Your Mind. Live Drug Free.
We will be using Natural High Curriculum each day during Tiger Time.
Monday: Fentanyl
Education about the deadly synthetic opioid that has led to a staggering 560% increase in overdose deaths.
Tuesday: The Science of Joy
Learn about dopamine's role in the brain and how it influences choices.
Wednesday: The Dark Side of Highs
Dive into the risks of artificial highs.
Thursday: Choosing Wisely
Highlights brain development in young people and the long-term consequences of drugs and alcohol.
Friday: Natural High
Athletes, artists, musicians, and designers among others tell their story of their Natural Highs and inspire and empower our students to find their own Natural High.

Mark your calendars! The D.R. Hill Book Fair is coming next week (October 16-20)! Students will have at least one scheduled visit with their ELA class. Students can bring cash, check, or credit card to make purchases. Lots of great books for hours of reading enjoyment!

Let's Rock! Rock Your School is a Get Your Teach On initiative that encourages teachers and schools to create an educational experience by doing something different for their students.

Come join the fun for our Powder Puff Football game vs. Florence Chapel Middle School on Friday, October 20th. Where the girls play and the guys cheer! Participants must be able to stay after school Monday through Thursday October 16-19th. Must fill out and turn in permission slip. Good morning! We are already half way through first quarter. Interim reports (Mid Terms) were emailed to parents/guardians and students today. If you did not receive yours please update your PowerSchool Information either electronically using your Snap Code, or through the guidance department.

Perform with the Byrnes Color Guard at the Tournament of Bands on Saturday September 30th! See attached flier for the upcoming Color Guard Spin Clinic presented by the Byrnes High School Color Guard. For all 5th-8th grade D5 students!

Our afternoon tutoring program, TAP (Tiger Academic Program), will begin the week of September 11th. Students can stay after school and receive extra help from certified staff on various assignments. Students do not have to be signed up, but must have a ride by 4:30 pm. TAP meets Monday-Thursday.

It was a great day at FCA on the Hill. Our 7th graders and 8th graders joined together to hear a word from Pastor Derek Henderson and a college/career challenge from our own Dr. Hepfner.

Mrs. Hughes' 8th grade math class investigated the relationship between the edges of squares and cubes before learning about perfect squares and cubes. For the last picture, early finishers in Mrs. Hughes' 8th grade math class compared their answers and had deeper conversations when their answers didn't match.

AVID Strategies can be found across the Tiger campus. Mr. McCullough and Mrs. Howard's ELA class have been using WICOR strategies in the classroom. Earlier this week, students used Cornell notes to organize information. Today students collaborated with classmates to play a game reinforcing the lesson.
