Up next for Arts in Education Week, we’ve got our Dance department, led by Mrs. Archie! 💃 Mrs. Archie is a passionate dance educator who believes dance is about so much more than movement—it’s about confidence, creativity, connection, and having fun. She loves creating an encouraging environment where every dancer feels seen, challenged, and inspired to grow both on and off the dance floor. Mrs. Archie is in her 22nd year of teaching, and her second year teaching at Beech and Byrnes. Mrs. Archie has done an excellent job creating the dance programs for both schools! 💜 Stay tuned for more information about upcoming Dance showcases and performances!

It’s Arts in Education Week, and we’re excited to continue highlighting our wonderful Fine Arts departments and their teachers. First up today, we have our Choir department, directed by Mrs. Shiflett! 🎶 In their first year as a middle school choral program, Beech Springs Choirs took their combined, non-auditioned choir of 6-8th grade students, and achieved Superior with Distinction at CPA. 😊 Mrs. Shiflett is currently President-Elect of SCMEA Choral Division, and SC ACDA Middle School Honor Choir Co-Chair. She is an active clinician across the state. In 2022, she received the Emerging Scholar Award, presented by SCACDA. Mrs. Shiflett holds degrees from The University of Michigan (M.M.), and The Florida State University (B.M.E). We are honored to have someone with her expertise directing our students! 🐾💜

Last but not least for the day, we’re shouting out our third Band Director, Mrs. Ma! Students in Mrs. Ma’s class spend the days being taught about Percussion, and we are always impressed with their skill! 🥁 We are also excited to celebrate that they’ve been invited to perform at SCMEA in February. 😊 This is Mrs. Ma's 13th year of teaching, and her 3rd year at Beech Springs. She has a Music Education degree from Furman University. She enjoys teaching her students and providing them with as many opportunities to perform, so that they can learn about the art of percussion both inside and outside of the classroom. 🐾💜 We look forward to highlighting our other four Fine Arts teachers tomorrow. Go, Panthers!

Up next for Arts in Education Week, we’re recognizing our Woodwinds Band Director, Mr. Montiel. 🪈 Mr. Montiel received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from University of South Carolina. He has performed as a member of the USC University Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. He also marched for USC’s “Mighty Sound of the Southeast” Marching Band as a baritone. Mr. Montiel has directed students throughout the district, including Berry Shoals and Byrnes High. We are so glad that he joined us at Beech! 🐾 When he is not teaching, Mr. Montiel enjoys making art, playing video games, and practicing his bassoon. He is currently a member of the Carolina Wind, a community band based in Lexington, SC. Let’s hear it for Mr. Montiel! 🎉

Up next, we’ve got our Band department. One of three Band directors, Mrs. McGee teaches brass. 🎺 Mrs. McGee is originally from Northern Virginia and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Music Ed and earned a Certificate in Trumpet Performance. This is her 3rd year teaching at Beech, and we are glad to have her here! 🐾💜 Stay turned for information about future band concerts!

A big vision, with an even bigger impact! ✨🏈 What started as a dream to connect the Byrnes Rebels Football players with our Beech Springs Panthers came to life yesterday in the best way possible - a mentorship program that goes beyond the field. We are thankful for these young men for creating unforgettable memories for our students. Thank you to Mrs. Boomer for coordinating this! 💜

Last week, we took nominations for the "Golden Panther Award." Today at our staff meeting, we had the pleasure of recognizing this month's recipients. Congratulations to Mrs. Dean, Mrs. Inman, Mrs. McGee, and Mrs. Sosa for being named "Golden Panthers" for the month of September! 🐾 We are thankful to have such dedicated staff members who make such a positive impact each day. 💜 We are excited to see who will be named a "Golden Panther" next month. Go Panthers!

Our second football game of the season is tomorrow! 🏈 Join us for this away game at 5:00 PM as our 8th grade team takes on Florence Chapel. Let's go, Panthers! 🐾💜

Congratulations to our Athlete of the week, Brooklyn H! Brooklyn is a leader among her other teammates. She stepped up and played all around on the court this week! 🏐 She made multiple game changing plays and contributed to both our wins this week! 🐾💜

Our men’s choir has been hard at work the past two weeks! Great music, big laughs, and even better memories. 🎶 Any boys interested in joining can come to the Choir room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30–8:00 AM. Come sing with us!

It was a great morning to kick off FCA, and the kids were excited to hear a word of encouragement from Chandler at The Mill this morning. 🐾

Don’t forget to wear a college shirt tomorrow for College Day! 🎓

Congratulations to our Volleyball team on their win against Carver tonight! 🎉 They especially enjoyed getting to have a familiar face in the crowd, Mrs. Cummings. In or out the building, win or lose, these girls make us proud. 🐾💜

Mrs. Moore’s classes spent the day discovering chemical/physical properties and changes by making S’mores. 🍫 What a fun, and tasty, learning experience!
