Games make everything better! 🚀Mrs. Millan’s two math classes reviewed their math strategies then have been learning by “racing to the finish line” with partners! 🏃♂️

Bubble fun with Ms. Jarrett's class! 🫧

It was an exciting and fun Friday last week!! Fabian’s Fishies 🐟 celebrated their first super reader with a “knighting ceremony”. 📚 We also celebrated students answering hard questions and going above and beyond with classroom behavior. We used real life math skills to count the tickets they earned, and pay for our merchandise! 🎟️

⭐️ We got to celebrate our students who participated in the Summer Slide program 🛝 with an ice-cream 🍦and dance party! 🪩

3rd grade students participated in a science experiment to introduce the scientific method. 🍊 Does a cutie sink or flat? The overwhelming hypothesis was that it would sink. Cuties float because of an air pocket inside the peel. They will sink once peeled! 🚀

Birthdays at Reidville are always a treat! 🥳

First grade had a fun week studying apples! 🍎 They tasted the different kinds of apples and graphed their favorites, made applesauce and worked together on an interactive writing piece on how to make applesauce, and concluded our week with a stem activity where the students worked together to design an apple boat. 🛶

Sydney Kurtycz (4th) has been named the Reidville Elementary School Distinguished Teacher of Literacy as part of the Palmetto State Literacy Association. This honor is given each year for the work a teacher does to promote literacy in her classroom and school. Congratulations, Mrs. Kurtycz!

Fourth and fifth graders met for the very first ever Harry Potter club with Mrs. Harding and Mrs. Hambright! Students will participate in a book club as they read through Book 1: The Sorcerer's Stone. They will also have the chance to enjoy fun activities related to the book. Last week, students were sorted into houses and then they worked together to create posters illuminating the awesome characteristics of their house! 📚

Our School Counselor, Mrs. Rozman, will be hosting a Parenting Workshop here at Reidville, the evening of Thursday, October 17th. If you are interested in signing up, please scan the QR code.

Mrs. Erwin's students made a number city last week! 🏙️ We love hands on learning! 🚀

Ms. Ripple’s third grade class reviewed prefixes by each receiving a card. 📚Students had to find a partner to make a word. Then, they defined the word and used it in a sentence. 🚀

Mrs. Watchorn's and Mrs. Clark's kindergarteners visited our STEM lab with Mrs. Harding this week to learn about living versus non living things. After watching Cookie Monster explain this by comparing himself to a rock (which they found hilarious), they were asked to use pattern blocks to create living things. They came up with a pigeon, flower, butterflies, a bat, and a bee flying near a beehive! Imagination is a wonderful thing!

It was Flashlight Friday in first grade today! 🔦 Students read by the light of a flashlight on this rainy day. ☔️

📚Mrs. Rudd's fifth graders worked in an escape room to practice their ELA skills. 🚀

It's a great day for learning at Reidville Elementary School! 🚀
We pride ourselves on character development and relationship here at Reidville and are thankful to have so many eager students walk through our doors each day. #d5strong #reidvillestrong

This past week Mrs. Millan's science classes learned all about molecules and compounds. The students built models of compounds with marshmallows and used a periodic table to practice identifying the elements that create the compounds they built.

Mrs. Reeves third graders learned how important it is to “hook” the reader when writing by doing some fishing inspired activities! 🎣 📚

Our kids are loving the new gaga ball sets in our play yard! Enjoying this beautiful weather before it gets chilly! 🚀

Boy Scouts of America came to visit our classrooms last week. ⛺️ The talked about camping and adventures! 🏔️
