Mrs. Mooneyhan’s class started a new ELA unit about light and shadows! 🔦 Last week they created their very own shadow puppets and experimented around the classroom using flashlights! 📕 On Thursday they read a nonfiction book about shadows and completed a shadow investigation outside to test if the shadow of their blocks would move throughout the day!! 🚀

Mrs. Millan and Ms.Wall’s fifth grade classes traveled around the world to learn about different cultures and how they celebrate the holidays. 🌍 Students had to convert and calculate air miles to determine the flight costs. 💴 They were given a set budget for their trip to visit 5 different countries. Students had to purchase specific items like souvenirs, food, and accommodations throughout their travels. Along side their budgeting, through research, the students read of different cultures celebrations and learned some of the traditions of the countries they traveled including special meals, words used to celebrate in their language, and the history.
🚀

🎨 Congratulations are in order for our Reidville Rocket holiday card contest winners! We are so proud of our little artists!🤍

TODAY IS AN EARLY RELEASE DAY!

Mrs. Carovillano’s students coded a gingerbread Ozobot to run, run, as fast as he could through the area model maze and escape being eaten! They also coded indi cars to navigate around the slippery ice to make it safely to their destination.❄️🚀

Our chorus, drum club and second graders put on quite the concert this week! 🎶 Just in time for some holiday cheer, with singing loud for all to hear! 🎄

It's been a fun week of holiday adventures with Grinches and Marves, book reading and all the snacks! 🎄 Don't forget, tomorrow, Friday, December 19th is a half day! We will dismiss at 11:30. 🚀

While Thanksgiving may feel like a distant memory, our hearts are still full from the wonderful collaboration between Mrs. Kurtycz and Mrs. Henderson’s Book Buddies. Before Thanksgiving break, students read The Turkey Race and explored the many obstacles the turkey faced along the way. 📚
Working together, students designed creative obstacle courses for their turkeys, thoughtfully incorporating vocabulary from the story and applying science skills. Take a look at the incredible creativity and teamwork that brought this learning experience to life! ✨

Wishing for real snow after our snowy morning at Reidville! ❄️

Mr. Darnell's fifth graders and Mrs. Martin's first graders worked together today to create a graphic organizer about being in a snow globe! They then played a math game together. #reidvillestrong
