Smile big!!

Last week Mrs. Cox's fourth grade class built animal and plant cells with her student teacher, Miss Norris. So much creativity!

🎨 These GT Creations Art students have art on display at the Byrnes Fine Arts Center until April 12! Way to go, girls!!🚀

Fabian’s Fishies 🐟 had a super fun Friday! We celebrated the beginning of Spring 🌸 & end of our Eric Carle 🐛 author study with the books: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and The Tiny Seed! Then we made a caterpillar snack. We also observed and wrote about what has been happening with our “Pumpkin Jack”experiment in our science journals! 🎃

Mrs. Boyter's first grade class made shape and fraction pizzas today! 🍕

Internet is not working well today. Could be a district issue. If it's not working you may want to stop your class test. So sorry for the crazy of this Monday.

Due to our staff workday tomorrow, Friday, March 15th, we will not have students in the building. Students, we will see you back on Monday, March 18th!

Congratulations to our March artists, Millie and Declan! Their art is featured in the front office. Hoping these flowers bring on some sunshine and warmer weather!

Read Across America week, Day 2 came with bubbles, sunglasses and goggles! What fun it is to be a Reidville Rocket!!

Read Across America Week is celebrated from March 4-8 — it is always near the birthday of the beloved author, Dr. Seuss. The entire month of March, in fact, is dedicated to reading. The week is set aside and is aimed to encourage reading and educate people about its benefits, especially among children.
Events are organized each day to encourage excitement with reading and will culminate with a Vocabulary Parade on Friday, March 8th.
See below for more details.

Due to inclement weather, our Fun Run will have to take place in the gym. Parents must enter through the back of the gym. We will have parking available in the back of the building, bus loop and front parking lot. There will be signs directing visitors to the appropriate entrance.
We appreciate your help in making this a successful fundraiser for our school!
*Due to changes for our schedule tomorrow, parents will not be able to come eat lunch with their students. Thank you for your cooperation with this!

Did you know Engineers Week (EWeek) was celebrated all around the world last week? EWeek is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.
Mrs. Griffey's first grade class welcomes Mrs. Ashley Wynne, a chemical engineer at Sealed Air, to share insight into her day-to-day work as a Principal Product Development Engineer. Mrs. Wynne showed us how her team problem solves each day and uses polymers to create plastic for various companies. She brought some of the PPE she wears each day and reminded us all that safety is always a top priority!
Next, we got to observe our own chemical reactions and mix an activator with glue to change a 2D linear polymer into a 3D network polymer. We made slime!! Finally, she read us The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires and encouraged us to persist and problem solve each and every day! We are so appreciative of the time Mrs. Wynne spent sharing all about her career as a chemical engineer! #weareD5 #reidvillestrong #worldchangers

Last Friday, several of our fourth grade classrooms went on a field trip to Roper Mountain Science Center! They have been studying force, motion, energy, and light waves.

Wednesday, February 28th, all Spartanburg School District 5 schools will dismiss early due to Teacher Professional Development. We will dismiss at 11:30am. Students will have lunch here at school. If your student's mode of transportation will change from it's normal procedure, please send a note to school.

It's Bus Driver Appreciation week and here in D5, we have the absolute best. A big thanks to all of our drivers for getting our students safely to and from school each day. You all have a very big job, and we are so thankful for your service to our schools.

We are elated to announce this school year's Teacher of the Year, third grade teacher Ms. Ashley Ripple and SEOY, Mr. Hans Schmidt! We are so thankful for your outstanding service and commitment to making Reidville Elementary, the place to be!

Byrnes is excited to be hosting a free clinic for girls in our district who might be interested in trying out lacrosse. This opportunity is open to current 2nd through 6th graders. No experience or gear is necessary. The clinic will be this coming Saturday, February 24th from 10:00-11:30 at BFA.

See you back at school on Monday!

It's National School Resource Officer Day and we are so glad to have Officer Fowler with us at Reidville Elementary School! He makes us all smile, is a friendly face for all of our students and staff, and does a wonderful job ensuring our safety. Thank you, Officer Fowler!!
