Today everyone in our school had the privilege of experiencing one of the most significant programs in our school’s history. As a part of Black History Month, FCMS took time to acknowledge the connection we have to the school that originally bore our name, Florence Chapel High School, one that was established in District 5 during the era of segregation in the US. We were so honored to welcome a number of alumni from the original FCHS today; their presence added so much gravity and meaning to the ceremony. Our chorus, step team, band, and orchestra all performed beautifully. Several staff members and students contributed as well, to what was an amazing experience for us all.

Super proud of Ari Lanford and Elle Wisecarver for leading FCA today for our 7th graders! Great preparation and delivery!

This past weekend Lincoln Heck (orchestra) and Matthew Price (band) represented Florence Chapel at All-State Orchestra held at River Bluff HS. Lincoln did a great job in the Viola section, and Matthew was spectacular at first chair French Horn! All-State Orchestra is an opportunity for the best band and orchestra students to work together in a concert. Proud of our students!

Today our admin treated the staff to lunch and Christy Hewitt led us in a super useful professional development session. The FCMS staff is incredibly fortunate to have great leaders supporting us! #WeAreD5 #fcmscougars

Students in Mr. Ebaugh’s class were dissecting owl pellets in the ‘Coughing Up Clues’ lab today. Students extracted bones and clues to learn about the role of an owl’s diet in a food web. #WeAreD5 #fcmscougars🦉🦉🦉

Mr. McDonald’s class started their unit on the Antebellum period. Students analyzed pictures, political cartoons, and maps from the period and created questions that they had about each. Super way to engage the minds from the outset! #WeAreD5 #fcmscougars

Ms. Warren's 7th graders created their own Greek tragedy/comedy masks while learning about theatre history. So much creativity in our students! 🎭
