Ms. Harrison, our technology coach, came to teach our English I students how to use WeVideo to create book trailers for their quarterly book reports. Students learned how to layer text, pictures, and sounds and how to create the right mood for their books through sounds, picture choices, and cliffhanger elements.
Mean Girls Jr. Production
Abner Creek Middle School presents Mean Girls Jr. on February 13th at 6:30pm.
Tickets are $5 per person and will be on sale in the front office from Monday February 10 to Thursday February 13. You can also purchase tickets on the night of the show at the D5 Fine Arts Center. Box office and doors open at 6:00pm. Our show will start at 6:30pm. Please note that no children under the age of 5 are allowed to attend.
We would love for you to support our students and staff who have worked tirelessly to put on this production. It will be a wonderful evening of entertainment!
Our school wide field trip to watch Mean Girls Jr.
Our Theatre Department has worked so hard to put together Abner Creek Middle School's very first production!
On February 13th, in the morning, we will be taking all of our students on buses to the D5 Fine Arts Center to watch Abner Creek Middle School’s first production of Mean Girls Jr. There will be no cost for the students to attend. Please complete and return your students’ permission forms to the school by Monday February 10th. We need all forms returned please, ticking whether you do or do not give permission.
This will be a fun outing for the whole school and we look forward to enjoying our school's production together!
7th Grade Boys won their first playoff game against Fairforest. They will play next Wednesday against Boiling Springs. Time is TBD.
Our Girls and 8th Grade Boys teams take the court today in the first round of the Peachtree Conference Playoffs. Our Lady Wolves play at 4:30 against Fairforest and our 8th Grade Wolves play against Gable at 5:30. Come cheer on some great student athletes. Go Wolves!

Students in Ms. Scherer’s Fundamentals of Computing Part B class are exploring different ways that data can be visualized on computers! They are learning how to interpret the information and are learning the importance of visually depicting data to make information easier to use as it helps us understand trends and changes in information. Students analyzed visualizations on U.S. Recorded Music Revenue, National Parks, March Madness Statistics, and Captain Marvel.
Ms. Dillingham's 6th graders were introduced to their new unit on ratios using a fruit loop lab today. Students made predictions using a hypothesis and answered questions after creating ratios and equivalent ratios from the colors of their fruit loops.
Mrs. Kay’s students are working with peer mentors through a reading club she created for her class. The reading club kicked off with a get to know you Venn diagram. Then, they identified text structures in passages about ice skating and enjoyed a field trip learning more about ice skating. Today, we began reading our novels while working on reading fluency and comprehension.

We are so proud of the 9 choir students who represented Abner Creek at our all-county honor choir, Spartanburg Sings, this weekend! Two of our students were also featured in the concert by singing duets.

D5’s own Karen Puckett was our Wolves of the Workforce visitor today! Mrs. Puckett shared on her career as a published author, editor, reporter, and journalist. She emphasized the importance of having integrity and strong communication skills in the field of journalism. She encouraged students to write and journal as often as they can. Thank you for visiting us today!
Students in Spanish enjoyed creating some sentences in a creative way today!
Enjoying some friendly writing competition in the library! Mrs. Spencer connected the writing topics to the current 8th grade units of Anne Frank and Romeo & Juliet. This friendly competition was a great creative quick writing activity.

Today is our regular season finale as your Abner Creek Wolves compete against Fairforest Middle School. Games start at 4:30. In between the Girls and 8th Grade Boys games (ETA 6:30) we will recognize our 8th grade Abner Creek Basketball Athletes. Come cheer on these wonderful student athletes as they make their final push before playoffs next week. Go Wolves!
Writing has never been more fun! Students in Mrs. Quinby’s class enjoyed the opportunity to respond to prompts regarding the advantages and disadvantages of living with pets, all while accumulating points for their team. With We Will Write, students can vote for the best writing pieces and then analyze the literary techniques employed in those works. Winning teams are always celebrated.
Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Cureton’s classes at Abner Creek Middle School partnered with Mr. Haskins and Dr. French’s classes at DR Hill Middle for a field trip to the Pavilion Ice Skating Rink. They learned about how the ice rink is made and tested out their ice skating skills. Students from across the district enjoyed socializing and making new friendships with each other.
