The first Wolves of the Workforce for 2025 is complete! A sincere thank you to Mr. Jalen Singleton of InMotion Wellness Studio in Spartanburg for being our guest speaker today. Mr. Jalen shared about his career working as a stretching specialist and manager in the health and wellness industry. He encouraged students to find their passion and pursue it. We are thankful he took the time to visit us at Abner Creek!

The English I students tried their hand at writing a Shakespearian sonnet, complete with iambic pentameter! So we had a popcorn and poetry day to share the sonnets with the class.

Students worked in small groups in Mrs.Bo’s ELA classes to analyze the text structure of nonfiction passages. They had to sort the different passages into structure types, identify the key words, generate a graphic organizer and identify the central idea. Teamwork was key for this task.

Due to a winter storm watch issued by the National Weather Service, all District Five Schools and offices will be closed on Friday, January 10. ❄️ Friday, January 10 will be an e-Learning day for all District Five students. 💻 This decision was made in the best interest of safety for all D5 students and staff, as snow, sleet and ice is predicted by late Friday morning, and roads will likely be unsafe for buses, families or student drivers to travel 🚌❄️🚗
Teachers will be in touch with students regarding all e-Learning assignments 📚📝. All after school and weekend activities are also canceled.📆
We appreciate your patience and understanding, as safety is always our top priority in District Five! #WeAreD5

We are so proud of Lila Mitchell, one of our 6th graders and Young Miss Clemson with Little Miss SC Pageant! She recently shared her story of her Alopecia to over 300 students in Cherokee County Schools. She gave her posters to two schools that help Encourage students to “Be A Friend To Those Who Are Different.” She will be delivering them to ACMS too!

Mrs. Linkous' 6th grade social studies students had a fun twist on notetaking today! They worked together with partners to find answers to questions on their Cornell Notes. Then after finding the correct answers, they were able to put their name on a number on the lottery board for a chance to win some candy!
