🏒🔬 Our 8th graders hit the Swamp Rabbits STEM Game yesterday and got to see Newton’s three laws in action! From players accelerating across the ice to powerful slap shots showing equal and opposite reactions, the game was the perfect real-life example of force, motion, and inertia. What an awesome day of science + hockey! ❄️📚

The 6th grade choir enjoyed their first “informance” today for family members and teachers! We demonstrated what a regular class period looks like- showing warm ups, aural training, sight reading, and working on repertoire for our upcoming concert. We even convinced the adults to learn and perform some of our favorites activities and songs with us!

Tomorrow will be a dress up day for Career Week! Come dressed up as your past or future career!

Mrs. Harper's 8th graders ended their Outsiders unit with a gallery walk of book covers! They had to analyze the images and show their symbolism to the book along with picking their favorite, most creative, and least favorite covers.

Today was also about building self-confidence, leadership, and the mindset for success!
We are so proud of our students for showing that there is so much more to success than just the outfit; it’s about believing in yourself and dreaming big! 💙🩶🐺

Students from Mrs. Ohler’s 7th & 8th grade choir classes had the opportunity to attend a choral clinic at Converse University with 15 other schools from Spartanburg and Greenville. The sopranos & altos were able to work with Katie Hardwick (choral director at Cane Bay High School) and the tenors & basses worked with Dr. Andrew Huish (director of choral activities at Bob Jones University). The day included a lot of singing, games, a fun lunch break, and a performance/college talk from students at Converse. We ended with a concert for parents to show everything we had learned that day.

6th Grade Orchestra did a fantastic job at their first ever concert last week! They played at the Fine Arts Center alongside 6th grade students from the other D5 middle schools.

Let's celebrate our 8th grade Leaders of the Pack for October! These students are picked monthly by their teachers for showcasing their best wolfpack traits. Keep up the good work, 8th graders!

What an awesome morning for 17 of our 8th graders! They joined Mrs. Charles, Mrs. Holzman, and Mr. Anderson for a tour of the BMW Training Center and had the opportunity to connect with local business vendors and colleges. Our students asked thoughtful questions and we are so proud of the way they represented our school! One student shared, “This has been my favorite field trip! Best day ever!”

Mrs. Kay’s ELA classes created figurative language posters based on a fall image. Next, the classes will trade posters and test their knowledge by identifying the figurative language used.

Ms. Wagaman's classes used various types of candy to build their own animal cells. Vanilla frosting represented the cytoplasm. Pull ‘n’ peel twizzlers represented the cell membrane. Frooties represented the endoplasmic reticulum. Nerds represented the ribosomes. Mini m&ms represented the mitochondria. A satellite wafer represented the nucleus. A hello panda cookie represented the lysosome. Students had a blast and shared that this activity really helped solidify the organelles and their functions in their minds!

We launched our very first in-house mentoring program Friday; Leading the Pack! We are so proud of this group and excited to see them work toward their goals this month!

Who says writing can’t be fun? ✍️
Students in Mrs. Bo’s ELA class took collaboration to a new level by writing right on their tables! They loved brainstorming and planning their writing together in this creative, hands-on way.
