This week in the STEM Studio, students (grades 3-5) are learning to program Rosie the robotic dog through a life-size coding game! 🐕🤖
Students are challenged to sequence functions to navigate the game board, avoid mud puddles, collect dog bones, and ultimately make it home to the doghouse. 🦴🏠 Along the way, they’re practicing computational thinking, problem-solving, sequencing, and debugging.
Next week, we’ll switch up the game board and give our code a new challenge. We can’t wait to see if we can make it through without any bugs! 🐞

Our 1️⃣st Grade team is learning and planning together with our academic instructional coaches. 💙

This summer, Mrs. Jung and her son, Sebastian (a rising 2nd grader), vacationed in France 🇫🇷 and Germany 🇩🇪 !
They began in France’s Loire Valley, where they explored magnificent castles 🏰 and learned about the history of the region. From there, they spent a week along the Atlantic coast near Arcachon, discovering charming seaside 🌊 towns, walking through beautiful pine🌲 forests, and watching surfers 🏄♂️ and kite surfers.
One of Sebastian’s favorite experiences was climbing Europe’s tallest sand dune and bravely trying fresh oysters and mussels for the first time!
Before returning home, they traveled to Germany to celebrate a family wedding and enjoy time with Oma and Opa.

Save the date! We are one week away from the start of school. Meet the Teacher will be Tuesday, August 4th, from 3:00-5:30. 🗓️
Please make sure you take care of the following BEFORE attending Meet the Teacher. 🍎
1)Complete InfoSnap (returning students only) and update a current proof of residence. 🏠 Failure to do so ahead of time can cause major delays and disruptions to your Meet the Teacher visit.
2) If your child will ride a bus 🚌 they need to be registered now. It takes days to route students and if you wait until Meet the Teacher it is very likely your child isn't routed in time for the start of school. You can check to ensure your child is registered by going to spart5.net, departments, and selecting transportation. Get the MyRide12 app (you will want this during the year anyway) and see if your child is registered and make sure all of the info is correct. If it is - you are all set. If not, fill out the registration link found on the same page. To get the app you will need your child's 5 digit ID number. This is your child's lunch # they may know-the number can also be found in Parent Portal or on a copy of your child's report card that was emailed to you last May.
We are so excited to have our Gators 🐊 return next week! Please ensure your InfoSnap, Proof of Residence, and bus registration (if applicable) is complete before Meet the Teacher to maximize your time visiting the classroom. See you Tuesday afternoon!

🌞 Summer is wrapping up, but there is still time to add books to your Summer Reading Challenge! 📚 Summer reading challenges will be due to Miss Koon by August 19th.
