Congratulations 🎉 to these students who were selected for SC Honor Choir! 🎶 They will prepare music with Mrs. Hawkins then sing at a concert with other students from across the state in February at the SC Music Educators Association conference. Dylan Farris Henslee Burrell Mela Craig Sadie Ashmore Scarlett Cano Kulbaba Liz Peed Mela, Sadie, and Scarlett were participants in last year's choir also! Congratulations to these ladies on this awesome honor!

🥼🔬 Second graders are thinking like real engineers in STEM this week!
Our young scientists used Hot Hands warmers and a variety of materials to investigate which materials act as conductors (allowing heat to transfer easily) and which act as insulators (slowing heat transfer). They’re discovering that the materials we choose can make a BIG difference when it comes to keeping things hot—or keeping them cool!
🌡️ Why does this matter? Engineers use insulators in everything from oven mitts and insulated lunch bags to the walls of our homes. Now, our second graders will put their new knowledge to the test as they design and build a device to protect a popsicle from melting under a 100°F heat lamp! 🍦☀️
Can they keep their popsicle cool? The challenge is on! 🧊🛠️

Today is Unity Day, the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. All across the country, schools are wearing and sharing the color orange to show that we stand together for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Our fourth graders have been exploring light waves 🌈 in the STEM Studio and recently put their learning into action with a colored light mixing lab! 🔴🟢🔵
Students investigated what happens when different colors of light overlap and experimented with creating new colors using red, green, and blue light. 🔦
🔬 Science connection: Unlike mixing paints and pigments, which absorb certain wavelengths of light, mixing colored light is additive—when different wavelengths of light combine, they can produce new colors, including white light!
Our Jung scientists were busy observing, predicting, experimenting, and making connections between what they see and how light behaves.
