literacy night drive through

Wellford Academy welcomed families to campus for a festive and engaging Drive-Through Literacy Night, led by Literacy Coach Katie Kinard. The event was designed to celebrate the joy of reading, writing, and family connection while providing simple, meaningful ways to support literacy at home.

As families drove through the themed stations, they explored Christmas traditions from around the world, each paired with an activity to complete together. These activities—ranging from crafting ornaments and baking cookies to sharing stories and writing hopes for the new year—were intentionally chosen to show how everyday moments can strengthen literacy skills.

“Our goal was to help families see that literacy is more than just reading books,” said Kinard. “It’s about creating shared experiences that make learning enjoyable, memorable, and part of daily life.”

By blending culture, creativity, and family engagement, Drive-Through Literacy Night offered a fun and accessible way for families to build a love for literacy beyond the classroom. Wellford Academy is proud to continue supporting literacy growth through community-centered events that bring learning to life.
