Emma Randall

A Byrnes High School senior is being recognized among some of the nation's brightest students!

Emma Randall, a senior at Byrnes High School and student at the Scholar's Academy, has been named a 2027 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist, earning recognition for her outstanding academic achievement.

"I felt a lot of joy and pride," Randall said of learning about the honor. "This gave me a lot of confidence, like I did something that only certain people can do."

The prestigious recognition places Randall among a select group of high school seniors nationwide who demonstrated exceptional academic ability through their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). As a semifinalist, she now has the opportunity to advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarships.

Outside the classroom, Randall is an avid reader, an amateur ukulele player, and an animal lover. At home, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs and guinea pig, and she's also volunteered at the humane society.

That love for animals has inspired her dream of pursuing a career in wildlife rehabilitation, where she hopes to make a difference in the lives of animals that need help.

"With animals, you see them get in situations where they can't help themselves, and that really pulls at me," Randall said.

While she's still deciding where she will attend college, Randall is excited about the opportunities ahead and the chance to turn her passion into a rewarding career.

Spartanburg District Five is incredibly proud of Emma for this outstanding academic achievement and looks forward to seeing all she will accomplish in the future! Congratulations, Emma!
