News from our Athletic Department!

Students in 6th grade social studies became scribes today and learned how to write in the ancient form of Sumerian cuneiform writing from 3500 BCE! They practiced in their notebooks and then used clay and a "stylus" to write their names or initials. Officer Moreno even got in on the fun!










8th Grade drops a game to Gable. Kaiden Brooks scores the first TD in school history! The wolves look to bounce back next week against Rainbow Lake Middle School. 7th Grade plays at home on Wednesday and 8th grade plays @ Rainbow Lake on Thursday. Go Wolves!

A big thank you to Four Points Church for providing breakfast for our teachers this morning! What a great way to start a Friday!





Our ACMS Student Council will be having a canned food drive for Middle Tyger Community Center from Monday Sept. 16th through Sept. 26th. Points will be awarded to each house for the amount of cans that are brought in. The winners will be announced at our Pep rally on Sept. 26th! Thank you in advance to all families for helping to make this event a success!

On Wednesday, Ms. Adkins' classes demonstrated the forces of drag and gravity by constructing penny parachutes and testing which parachutes worked the best! They collected and analyzed the data as well!






Our 8th grade boys take the field today here at ACMS! Come out and cheer them on!

Students in Ms. Dewyea's science class reviewed for their quiz on Friday through a force and motion escape room. They had to answer review questions and solve puzzles to complete each level!






It's game day for our 7th grade football team today! Good luck boys!!

Students in Mrs. Williams’ 8 grade Medical Detective classes have been learning about the circulatory system. They had to design and build a pump device that would carry fluid through a “circulatory system” using what they’ve learned about the heart, arteries, and veins.

Students in Mrs. Williams’ App Creators classes are learning about conditional algorithms. Today they put their problem solving skills into practice and tried to figure out the code before they used them to actually create their app.










News from our Athletic Department!
Our Abner Creek Volleyball team is hosting our first official regular season home event on Wednesday of this week against Boiling Springs. Come out and let's pack "The Den" and support our volleyball athletes. Football is hosting an 8th grade matchup on Thursday against Gable while 7th grade travels to Gable on Wednesday. Let's cheer on our athletes. Go Wolves!

Students in Mrs. Bo's class ended the week with a fun problem solving task called “Operation Save Fred”. Students worked together in groups to problem solve, collaborate, and work towards the end goal of saving Fred. Together students generated a plan, put their plan into action, and revisited steps and procedures when adjustments were needed. The goal was teamwork, communication, and learning from mistakes.










Watershed Ecology Center came to teach 6th grade scientists about conductors and insulators in a program called “The Heat is On” this past week! What a great way to do even more hands on science!





Mrs. Harper's English class made informational graphics about a book genre of their choice. They were focusing on creating visual information through color choices and icons, collaborating with others, and presentation skills.

Mrs. Ohler & Mrs. Loving's combined adaptive music class got to visit band today to learn about brass instruments. Mrs. Crutchlow and her 7th graders played several songs for them to sing and play their rhythm instruments with, and they enjoyed hearing the different sounds their instruments made!! 🥁🎺🎷
