DISTRICT PRESENTS PROPOSED ATTENDANCE LINE CHANGES

Attendance Line graphicSpartanburg District Five leaders presented proposed attendance line changes, to begin in the 2024-25 school year, for the first time in a scheduled Board of Trustees meeting on Monday, April 24.  The proposed changes come a year and a half after District Five voters approved an historic $295 million bond referendum, in response to enormous enrollment growth across District Five schools.

The passage of the referendum kicked off a major growth plan for District Five, which includes two brand new schools, a new Wellford Academy campus, additions to Byrnes High School and Reidville Elementary School, and the conversion of the district's two intermediate schools.

The proposed attendance lines come after months of planning and consideration, on behalf of District Five administrators, as well as our Operations and Transportation departments. Important factors included, but were not limited to:

  • Enrollment capacity of current and future schools

  • Potential growth in numerous areas across the district

  • Traffic patterns and flow throughout the district

  • Bus transportation

These proposed lines will lay out the attendance zones for District Five’s eight elementary schools, beginning in 2024-25:  Abner Creek Academy, Berry Shoals Elementary School, Duncan Elementary School of the Arts, Lyman Elementary School, Reidville Elementary School, River Ridge Elementary School, Tyger River Elementary School, and Wellford Academy.
