It's an exciting time in Spartanburg District Five, and our district continues to grow, both in the classroom and at the leadership level. District Five is pleased to announce two new administrative appointments, unanimously approved by our Board of Trustees at their March meeting.
A new face will be joining Spartanburg District Five, as Robert Dunkin has been named the next Assistant Principal of Beech Springs Middle School. Dunkin brings more than a decade of experience in education, with a strong background in instructional leadership, curriculum development, and supporting both teachers and students. He currently serves as a Palmetto Math Specialist with the South Carolina Department of Education, where he provides coaching and professional development to educators across the state.
"I'm so grateful for this opportunity, and excited to join the Beech Springs and Spartanburg District Five family," Dunkin says. "I was drawn to District Five because of the growth here, and I'm eager to lead in a district that has a strong vision for student success."
Prior to his current role, Dunkin served as an Assistant Principal and Principal in multiple South Carolina school districts. He began his career in the classroom as a middle school math teacher, where he built a strong foundation in data-driven instruction and student engagement. Dunkin earned his Bachelors in Applied Mathematics from Morris College, and holds a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration from Grand Canyon University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction.
"I can't wait to get to Beech Springs, and start building relationships with students and staff, and am thrilled to work with educators who are as excited about teaching and learning as I am. "
Spartanburg District Five is also proud to welcome Nick Pegram as the new Assistant Principal of Florence Chapel Middle School. Pegram is no stranger to Florence Chapel, as he served as a Special Education teacher and department head there, along with D.R. Hill Middle School, for over a decade, before being promoted to a behavior specialist supporting schools across District Five over the last year. He first joined the District Five family in 2015.
"I feel truly blessed and honored to be returning to Florence Chapel as an Assistant Principal," Pegram says.
Prior to working in education, Pegram earned his Bachelors in Psychology from Clemson University. He also holds a Masters in Education in Administration and Supervision from Anderson University. "I'm looking forward to supporting and serving the staff, students, and families as part of such an outstanding and positive school community."
Both Pegram and Dunkin will officially begin their new roles on July 1. Congratulations to both of these outstanding educators!
