⏰ **Arrival & Early Dismissal Reminders** A few important reminders for our Berry Shoals families: 🐝 Students are **tardy after 7:30 AM**. After 7:30, an adult must walk students inside and sign them in. 🐝 **Early dismissals should take place before 1:50 PM.** Dismissals after 1:50 require administrator approval. Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe and smooth! 💛🐝

📢 After School Program Update Our After School Program is now FULL! If you would still like your child to be considered, you may submit an application to be placed on our waitlist. Please note that only families who have paid the registration fee have secured a spot in the program. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

🐝 K4 & K5 Families — We're Excited to Welcome You to Berry Shoals Elementary! 💛🖤 To help our youngest Bees have a smooth and successful start to the school year, we will once again use a staggered start schedule for our K4 and K5 students. 📅 Students with last names A–K will attend: • Thursday, August 6 • Friday, August 7 • Wednesday, August 12 📅 Students with last names L–Z will attend: • Monday, August 10 • Tuesday, August 11 • Wednesday, August 12 🎉 Beginning Wednesday, August 12, all K4 and K5 students will attend school together every day. We encourage all families to attend our Meet the Teacher event before school begins! It's the perfect opportunity for your child to meet their teacher, become familiar with their classroom, and explore the school before the first day. 🍪 Miss Grinnell’s class had a sweet time during Cookie Day! Students read The Smart Cookie, designed their own dream cookies, and completed descriptive writing about the different cookies they tried. It was a fun day full of creativity, learning, and delicious treats! 🍪✨

📢 Attention Parents! Here are some important upcoming testing dates — be sure to mark your calendars and help your child feel prepared! 🗓️✨ A little preparation goes a long way in reducing stress. Help your child succeed by: ✔️ Getting a good night’s sleep ✔️ Eating a healthy breakfast ✔️ Starting the day with a calm, positive routine Together, we can set them up for success! 🖤💛🐝

Have you ever seen an “oops” turn into something amazing? 😊 Mrs. Atwood’s 1st graders sure did! After reading Charlotte in her Lab, they took on a real-life experiment of their own. When extra copies were accidentally printed, the class turned the mistake into a mission—tearing them up and recycling them into brand-new paper! This morning, the experiment was a success—hooray! 🎉 Students then illustrated the story’s setting and wrote their own “How-To” pieces explaining the paper-making process. Proof that a little mistake can lead to big learning (and lots of fun)!

Second grade had a fantastic visit from the Spartanburg Public Library’s STEM Lab! 📚✨ Our students had an amazing time getting creative as they designed and made their very own buttons and bookmarks. It was a hands-on learning experience filled with imagination, innovation, and lots of smiles! A big thank you to the Spartanburg Public Library for bringing STEM learning to life for our students!

🎉 Join us in celebrating Mrs. Ashley McClary — named Teacher of the Year! 🌟 Mrs. McClary creates a positive, engaging classroom where every student feels supported, challenged, and truly valued. Her warmth, professionalism, and dedication uplift students and colleagues alike. Berry Shoals is so lucky to have such a bright light on our team. We are incredibly proud of you, Mrs. McClary!! 💐

🎉 Huge congratulations to Berry Shoals Elementary fifth grader Alfredo Montillo Rubio! 🎉 Alfredo finished as this year’s runner-up at the 2026 USC Upstate Regional Spelling Bee—2nd place out of 80 spellers after 10 nail-biting rounds when only Alfredo and a 7th grader from Campobello Gramling Junior High were left standing. We are so proud of his dedication and hard work! 👏📚

📚 Mrs. Ballenger’s 4K class was rockin’ and rollin’ today! Students had fun learning about rhyming words and were introduced to the vocabulary word accident during reading. We are so proud of these little learners! 🌟
