We know this has been a long and challenging week as our District Five community continues to recover from the recent winter weather.
All District Five Schools and offices will remain closed Thursday, January 29, due to continued hazardous driving conditions. Thursday will be an eLearning day for all District Five students. All extracurricular activities and events have also been cancelled for Thursday.
Our district’s inclement weather team, along with school bus drivers, spent much of the day Wednesday evaluating roads across District Five. While most main roads have improved, many secondary roads remain covered in ice. More than half of our district’s school bus routes are still unsafe for travel at this time. With sub-freezing temperatures expected to continue overnight, refreezing and black ice remain a concern, and we simply cannot risk the safety of our buses, families, staff or student drivers.
Teachers have communicated with students regarding any eLearning assignments.
If there are additional changes to our school schedule in the days ahead, we will communicate with our families and staff as soon as possible.
As always, we appreciate our community's support, as safety is always our top priority in District Five. Please stay safe!
