All District Five schools and offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, due to hazardous driving conditions throughout the district, following this past weekend's ice storm. Wednesday will be an eLearning day for all District Five students. All extracurricular activities are also cancelled.
District Five's inclement weather team spent much of Tuesday surveying road conditions across the district, and while some main roads have improved, many secondary roads remain covered in ice and are unsafe for travel. With extremely cold temperatures continuing overnight, road conditions are not expected to improve, and remain dangerous for school buses, families, staff, or student drivers to travel.
Teachers have already shared eLearning assignments and expectations with students. However, as a reminder: if your family is without power or internet access, please focus on your family’s safety first. Students will have five school days after we return to school to complete any eLearning assignments.
We hope to see improved conditions over the next 24 hours, and will communicate any additional changes in our school schedule to parents and families as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as safety remains our top priority in District Five!
