District Five Approves 2026-27 School Year Calendar

As we look forward to another great school year in Spartanburg District Five, the 2026-27 school year calendar is now available so families can start planning ahead. District Five's Board of Trustees recently approved the calendar, which includes several new and important dates for the upcoming year.
Important dates to take note of:
Earlier start and finish dates: The school year will begin a bit earlier this year, with class starting for students on Thursday, August 6. The year will conclude for students on May 28, 2027.
Two new breaks added: This upcoming year, District Five’s calendar includes a short fall break (October 15-16) and a weeklong winter break (February 15-19), both designed to support student and staff wellbeing.
During the 2026-27 school year, winter holidays will begin on December 21, 2026 and last through January 4, 2027 for students. Spring Break is scheduled for April 5-9, 2027.
As the district has done the last several years, there will be two "Early Release Days" for students during the year, one scheduled for September 23, 2026, and the other on February 3, 2027. Early release days follow the district's "half day schedule" for students, and allow for professional development time for teachers and staff.
