District 5 believes that attendance and punctuality are key factors in student achievement. Therefore, it is important for students to be present and on time to not disturb the learning process.

District 5 will allow a maximum of 20 unexcused tardies per school year. Once a student has reached 15 tardies, an attendance conference will be scheduled to discuss a plan of action to ensure on-time arrival. Once the maximum allowable tardies has been reached, a referral will be made to truancy court. Tardies are only excused by a medical note, late bus, or an administrator.
