Spartanburg District Five parents and families can begin planning for next school year, as the district has officially released its 2022--23 school year calendar. The calendar was unanimously approved by the district Board of Trustees at its January meeting. Students in District Five, along with those in all Spartanburg County school districts, will start the school year on Monday, August 15, 2022.
Winter holidays for the upcoming school year will be observed December 19-January 2. Students and staff will be off for Spring Break April 3-7.
The new calendar includes a significant change this year in the addition of two student "early release days". The days will allow for much-needed professional development for District Five teachers and staff. They were added to the calendar after months of research and discussion amongst county school leaders.
The 2022-23 school year will end on Friday, May 26, 2023, for students. As required by the state of South Carolina, makeup days are built into the calendar, should the district have to cancel school due to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances.
