District Five Issues Statement On Governor's Executive Order

logoSpartanburg District Five is aware of Governor McMaster’s Executive Order, issued late Tuesday, regarding students wearing masks at school.  The order directs the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) and the state Department of Education to develop and distribute a standardized form for school districts to provide to parents who wish to “opt out” of the mask requirement for their children on school grounds.

At this time, District Five is awaiting guidance from the South Carolina Department of Education regarding this “opt out” process, the distribution of this form, and implementation in our schools.  This form will be shared with parents and families as soon as it is made available to the district.

Until further notice, the South Carolina Department of Education has directed all of the state’s school districts that its mask mandate remains in effect on school campuses.  This means all District Five students and staff members will be expected to wear masks, until we receive further information.

As always, we remain committed to protecting the safety of the students and staff of Spartanburg District Five.  We appreciate your patience and understanding as we await guidance from the state.
