Local Business Donates 5,000 Masks To District Five
Students and staff in Spartanburg District Five will soon have access to even more protection in the classroom, thanks to an Upstate business. Wear Active LLC, along with owner Jimmy Staton, delivered 5,000 KN95 respirator masks to the district this week. The donation will immediately be turned around, and distributed to each of District Five's 12 schools to help student and teachers.
Staton, who is an educator himself, says he's happy to help. "We have a past of helping our teachers and students. From my educational background of being a teacher and a coach, I completely understand the school budget constraints, and the difficult processes it takes to increase them. We want to do our part by getting kids back into schools safely so that they can experience a better education system for a better future."
Spartanburg District Five Superintendent Dr. Randall Gary, who was on hand to accept the masks from Staton and his staff, says the donation will go a long way. "We are so appreciative to Wear Active for their generosity," says Dr. Gary. "This donation gives an extra level of comfort to our district, as we look to provide multiple layers of protection for our students and staff. In times like these, when community partners like Wear Active give so generously to schools, they're not just helping us, they're helping the whole community."
Wear Active opened 14 years ago as a textile-based company, but shifted to PPE in January of 2020 to meet the needs companies and organizations during the pandemic. The business is based in Inman, SC.
